Do You Think Our "Friends" At Free Republic Are Immolating Themselves Over This

Bye Bye...Dead Enders...You are about to be buried under a demographic avalanche. There just aren't enough bitter, insecure, racist, bigoted, and homophobic men left to sway an election.

+1. You are right: if the top is won the focus on the down-ticket. nt Bernardo de La Paz Sep 2012 #6

Trackers are extremely volatile and this came on the heels of the convention. Let's see where it is in a couple weeks.

I am thinking if the Repubs jump the shark and nominate the Master Of The Hacienda in 2016 to address their minority problem.

Starting with the head freeper...so I doubt they're ready to jump off bridges. Many are focused where we should be...on the down ticket races. While they hate President Obama...Mittens has been an inept candidate and the teabaggers are more concerned in protecting their own in the House and adding more in the Senate. If you want to see them go off the deep end then Democrats need to work hard to retake the House and hold the Senate...

This is why they have hope. It means that Romney's base (even if they hold their nose) is solid, committed to voting against Obama, Anybody But Obama. Obama's support may be bigger (today) but is more fluid, less strongly committed, even though overall approval/disapproval is 52/49:

The more thoughtful ones latch onto the enthusiasm gap, which exists (see an earlier post of mine in this thread) and does need paying attention to:

During an event hosted by National Journal/Atlantic her this week, Democratic pollster Celinda Lake cited an "enthusiasm gap" with younger voters and unmarried women and seniors. Former Clinton aide Maria Echaveste said that "too many [Obama supporters] are not engaged." And micro-targeting expert Laura Quinn said younger voters especially are "not motivated as they need be."

Usually freepers project their own numbskull failings:

It is as Rush feared—the Left has significally increased the moron vote and they are just now starting to pay attention. Like during the Revolution, a third were patriots, a third were traitors and a third were morons...we may have to go back to the tactics that made us ALL Americans.

... or they are oblivious to reality and predict a win in the electoral college:

Weekend effect. I believe this happened the past two weekends; wait for Monday or Tuesday for a reversal.

Only worry about the battleground states. Rasmussen premium site has Romney up or tied that last few snapshots. Rasmussen’s national poll does have Obama ahead right now (within Margin of Error), but this shows the effect of the POPULAR VOTE, not the ELECTORAL COLLEGE vote. Obama’s huge majority in California, New York, and Illinois is affecting this Rasmussen poll. DON’T BE SURPRISED if Obama wins the popular vote—and the Dems will be screaming later for a Presidential Popular Vote; however, there will never be 38 states to ratify such an Amendment.

Rasmussen’s generally accurate, though — it’s gonna be a nail-biter, I have it 272 EV for Romney.

... or a Romney landslide:

What are you smoking? Romney could take a nap with the alarm set to Nov 1st right now and win this thing. I appreciate caution, but it is ridiculous to think Obama has a snowball's chance in Hades to win. More likely to get landsliden! However, if Obama somehow pulls this thing off, kiss your republic goodbye!
