Ann Romney says Democratic criticisms she and Mitt lack empathy are ridiculous
WASHINGTON Ann Romney says while she and her husband have never had financial woes, they do know what its like to struggle.
The wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says her battle with multiple sclerosis has been at times a cruel teacher.
In a joint interview with her husband on NBCs Meet the Press, she says criticism that they lack empathy for the troubles of others is ridiculous. She says their lives have always been devoted to people who are struggling more than they are.

Not only that he flips from one extreme to another that fast and sometimes in one sentence. I guess they hate Obama so much they'll vote republican. The sad thing is it will truly hurt the country.

(25,932 posts)Empathy implies an ability to experience the thoughts, emotions, and direct experience of others mutually. It's waaaay past sympathy, which is only concern for the suffering of others.
Mittens & Kittens do not have.

I don't doubt it is difficult for anyone to battle a serious illness or degenerative disease, but a lot of people do it, and most of them don't have the endless supply of money to get all the treatment needed. It's really hard to feel sympathy for this cold, self-important woman.

(11,360 posts)... "devoted to people who are struggling", we would have some photos of her volunteering at soup kitchens, or visiting injured veterans, or reading to inner-city kindergartners, or something to prove that assertion. I don't remember seeing anything of the sort.

Remember when questioning the pResident in time of war weakened the pResident's resolve and bolstered the enemy?
It was okay though to spend $70,000.000.00 of taxpayer money to prove that Clinton was a Mench.
Orin Hatch and Bob Barr opined that it was permissible to snipe at the president while still supporting the troops, even though not one single US soldier was lost in combat during his the Kososv/Croat liberation. Not one.
The French Government gave Clinton the goods on the Bush administration one week before inauguration and three weeks after the Christmas eve pardon's of Iran-Contra organizer's yet Clinton vowed that We will put the past behind and work for the future.
A noble sentiment if ever there was but look how they repaid him.
Fast forward to 2009 and Obama has overbalanced himself reaching across the aisle to the point that the Congress grabbed him by the sleeve and gnawed the meat from his bones leaving him handicapped in the spirit of the GOP's forward looking policies.
Rather than treat him with respect they would yet again commit treason against the United States and the President himself by obstructing the recovery efforts of the administration for the benefit of every day people like you and me.
Now the Ice Queen is stonewalling on her opinions and scolding the Mediots for asking perfectly reasonable questions.
My guess is that the Romney camp also followed up with phone calls to his good buddies(CEO's),the sponsor's to have them call off the dogs from asking such below the belt questions.
As George HW Bush said when asked about his long time affair with his secretary(paraphrasing here)"I won't dignify that with comment" and that as he said, was that.
It just goes to show, never, ever trust a Republican.

(6,900 posts)Empathy is the ability to imagine yourself in another persons shoes. It is not the ability to equate whatever minor difficulties you have faced with the imagined lives of others. It is not the ability to equate homelessness with borrowing from relatives to buy a house, of having tuna casserole with hunger, of not being able to pay for medical care with having a therapy horse. That is not empathy. Empathy is not supporting a husband who promises to cut 1/3 from medicaid--which pays for the health care of many and also pays for nursing homes for those who cannot care for themselves-but only after their own assets are gone.
Ann, you and that robot you call your husband are proof of the banality of evil.
