And I have worked and fought for clean elections, democrats, and progressive policies in Ohio for years.
Mike is listening to real experts as per C-19 and keeping crowds down in polling places is the right thing to do.
The Dire Wolf is here and it is real.

330,000,000 (US Population) x .40 (40 to 70% infection rate) x .03 (lethality rate W.H.O.'s # is 3.4%) = 3,960,000 dead
Today even Trump admitted this "thing" will go on until @ least August.
Trust me I am no fan of DeWine but he is listening to the experts as per C-19. The OH Dept. of health has
extrapolated the #s out to 100,000 cases in OH right now.

I usually look forward to it, but not when we are suppose to be social distancing.

(7,580 posts)DeWine is playing political games and breaking the law by ignoring a judge's direct order. What do you NOT GET about that? So happy to see the other states involved in primary elections tomorrow are not disavowing the voters in their states. Joe Biden can win big tomorrow w/o Ohio voters.

I live in Columbus, OH and I have laid my ass on the line fighting for fair and clean elections doing
election protection work for many years. I get "it."

Republicans are morally bankrupt.
This is not about health and safety.
They don't care about such values.
Botany
(70,567 posts)Yes it is. BTW on elections days I have gotten up @ 4:30 to 5:00 and worked sometimes
until past 9:00 fighting for the right of every legal voter who showed up @ the precinct I
was working @ to vote and their vote be counted too. I have faced down armed police
and corrupt republican poll workers in trying to get that done.
Coventina
(27,169 posts)There is no way he's doing this for any reason than to cause chaos in the Democratic party.
Botany
(70,567 posts)BTW in his court filing DeWine is also seeking relief so everybody who wants to vote
in the primary can do so but just not @ the polls tomorrow and @ a later date.

(430 posts)Republicans are relentless and have no respect for law.
DeWeasel looks mild-mannered, but has always been a highly partisan below the belt fighter (Clinton impeachment, dirty senate campaign against Sherrod Brown, etc). He had a case brought before a Franklin County (Columbus) court, using employees of Sec of State LaRose as plaintiffs late to-day. The judge followed the law, and rejected DeWeasel's move. Late in the evening, he has a state health officer, Amy Acton, to close the polls. That is really pulling one out of his ass. Well, Ohio has been a southern state for some time. This would be a precedent for other Republicans/Fascists in the future, and that would include Orange "Democratic hoax" Caligula, or President for Life Trumple-thin-skin.
Botany
(70,567 posts)He ran scurrilous ads about John Glenn that were way over the top some years

Joe B. is gonna be the nominee. End of story. But in this case he is trying to do the right thing.
OH (along w/America) is just days away from a hell storm of death and sickness from C-19.

Just like many democratic governors did in their states too recently. DeWine was really scared @ his presser
yesterday. You could see the fear on his face.

(8,965 posts)By delaying the scheduled vote it's not improbable that future in-person voting might be even more risky. There could be no better time than the present to move to vote-by-mail. The more universal the better. Would also be more equitable so that long lines at certain poll locations and transportation / parking issues no longer penalize those who choose to do their civic duty.

(42,747 posts)Not that long ago politicians restricting gatherings to 500, then 250, then 100, then 50, were being applauded here as doing the right thing. DeWine was being applauded for acknowledging that the situation was far far worse than Trump and his clown show was letting on. Now the guidance ranges from ten people to simply shut it down (Bay Area -- not exactly Republican stronghold). But now its a bad thing to listen to the experts?
More people will be disenfranchised if the election is held tomorrow than if it is delayed, since I would tackle my elderly aunt before I let her go out to vote. Or my immune compromised wife. Or my 70+ brother with a history of respiratory illness.
Sometimes this place can be so disappointing.
Botany
(70,567 posts)... close all bars, restaurants, and now gyms. Believe it or not by DeWine is listening to the

Most of our poll workers are older retired folks. How would you like to sit there for 12 hours while everyone comes filing past you, touching pens, being too close.
Plus, there are still way too many people in Ohio who aren't taking this seriously. We have 50 cases, probably more by now, it goes up every day.
We are being informed that we'll still be able to vote through the first of June. So it's not like the election is being cancelled altogether, just moved ahead.
I have never voted for a Republican in my entire life .... I was for Warren until she dropped out and now I'm for Biden. I just don't see anything nefarious going on here.
