The mental health wave

If self isolation measures continue the months my guess is there will be a huge uptick in suicides and mental health issues. Isolation is bad enough but lose of income, severe financial troubles and hopelessness will be a real problem

This has been on my mind. This will be a parallel epidemic of its own.

Hopefully, the supply of medications can stay flowing or it gets even worse.

I'm spending more time at the computer--I've posted more here in the past week than in the previous couple of months.
This is my lifeline, but it's also keeping me in what I call "no-drama-mama" mode where I work at being a rational and sane voice as much as I can. Even if I get sick, I can communicate to others.
If this lasts thru summer, I'll lose a lot of income (I work at festivals). Fortunately, we are not dependent on my income and Hubby works mostly from home anyway. But if the busnesses he works with have to shutter....glad we have a mostly unused home equity line of credit.

told me a friend of hers who works for healthcare says there are a lot more suicidal people coming in now. It’s been crazy the last 2 weeks there. If you know anyone with mental health issues, Check in with them. Talk to your kids. This is very scary for everyone and some people who’ve been going through depression may not have the proper coping mechanisms.

Mental illness runs in my family. There are people very close to me who will be struggling with this, and it's a big concern for me.

I feel very close to a breakdown. I’m 3000km away from my husband and kids, taking care of my mom after my dad died. They might close the US-Canada border and I’m terrified I’ll never see them again.

My mental health is in the toilet.

The trick is to get the first one and a place to use it.

the closure of the gyms here in New Jersey and elsewhere is taking away one of the best methods of helping to make people feel better: working out/exercise.
