(6,235 posts)When America was tested by this virus, America didn't fail: the current administration failed.
If, as the article says, our preparedness index was over 80%, the only thing that got in the way was POtuS and his minions.

(10,828 posts)The testing bungle was a complete disaster for the country. Had we taken advantage of the 6-8 week window and prepared for what people knew was coming (reports indicate that Trump was informed in early January) we'd be in much better shape. Between the delay, Trump's early accusations that the virus was a hoax and the dismantling of our pandemic response infrastructure, the US was handicapped from the get-go.
Trump isn't responsible for the virus itself. But he is absolutely responsible for the mismanagement of the crisis and the ensuing chaos.
