Muhammad film: Israeli director goes into hiding after protests

An Israeli film-maker based in California has gone into hiding after his film attacking the prophet Muhammad sparked angry assaults by ultra-conservative Muslims on US missions in Egypt and Libya, claiming the life of one American.

Speaking by phone from an undisclosed location, the writer and director Sam Bacile remained defiant, describing Islam as "a cancer". The 56-year-old said he had intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion.

Protesters angered over Bacile's film on Tuesday opened fire on, and burned down, the US consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, killing a US diplomat. In Egypt, protesters scaled the walls of the US embassy in Cairo and replaced an American flag with an Islamic banner.

"This is a political movie," said Bacile. "The US lost a lot of money and a lot of people in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we're fighting with ideas."

They certainly got their money's worth. Rioting Muslims in Libya killed an American ambassador. Nice return on that five million investment.

It smells like Bibi Netanyahu's ass. And what a coincidence he's here today to save the GOP.

It would be interesting to see the funding sources for that movie, I wonder if there's AIPAC connections.

Hate films have no place in this world, what exactly was the films purpose other than to anger these people? Now the fear tactics kick in to scare the fools in this country and abroad. Is this a War justification? Question where the fuck is the anti-christen movie, over last 6 months have we not had a shooting by some nut and his religious beliefs? What a bunch of fucking hypocrites. IMO this film is a Virtual giant spoon stirring the pot of ignorance; now let’s see what else happens, the same a kicking and ant hill or messing with a hornets’ nest.
