Masks for trash service

I have been making face masks for my family and neighbors. Today I took 7 to my trash service company. Im in a very rural town. I have never seen absolute glee like these guys had.

They feel like no one remembers them. They're essential and we need them healthy.

Just an idea for those making masks for their community.

The owner of the trash service told me he was bringing me fabric soon.

Small things add up. Humans can be awesome.

The numbers in Clark County - positive and negative - have not changed in days. That tells me that either no testing is being done or tests are not being reported.

Things are shut-down. Walmart is doing one in/one out. Most businesses are either closed or working from behind closed doors.

I'm a mortician and, like these folks, we kinda get forgotten sometimes.

This is a family trash service that Ive used for 20 years or more.

Meanwhile she has been busy sterilizing everything for customers for 3 weeks.

Normally, she does the samples...

I am on pins and needles every day that she doesn't catch it...

These workers should have had masks as soon as this thing spread.

My local martket got masks for employees today. They put up plastic shields at the check outs.

Exposure would be less for everyone if folks could just place an order and have it carried out to their car.

May your daughter remain virus-free!

I've thought about them, too, since they're still on the job doing an essential service. I hope this catches on, kudos!

We need to think of a way to get this idea out, this is one of the most essential services we have during this crisis and we need to keep them safe and on the job!

My garbage gets picked up tomorrow, er, later today. Because of you, I just got back from taping a couple of ziplock baggies on the garbage bin. Each baggie contains a couple of pairs of 9 mil HF nitrile gloves and a dust mask (don't know if that will do much good, but it's better than nothing) and a note saying, "Thanks!"

Trash was picked up; took noticeably longer than usual. We're the last stop on this road, which is just a little wider than the truck, so the guys have to turn around at the end of my son's driveway (about 100 yards or so from my house). They arrived as I was taking the big dog for his daily dip in the pond and must have seen me. After they finished, one of them walked down the road far enough to see me sitting on the other side of the pond and waved real big.

When I went to bring the garbage bin to the house, there was a note on a piece of cardboard stuck under the lip of the lid:

"God bless you and stay safe. the Trash Men"

I didn't put nearly as much effort into it as you did with the hand-made mask (I'm too fumble-fingered to do that), but it looks like they appreciated the stuff.
