Newsom signs executive order giving additional sick leave to food industry workers

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday that he has signed an executive order providing two weeks of supplemental paid sick leave for all workers in the food industry who have been exposed to COVID-19.

The executive order applies to fast food workers and delivery drivers.

you can expect the Dollar Menu (or Value Menu, or whatever they call it) to disappear. And a fast-food hamburger will cost at least five bucks.

That's the business model of Burgerville, USA, out in the Portland, Oregon area where I used to live. It works for them, because Northwesterners know that giving benefits to fast-food workers is a better way to eat out cheaply. It will be totally disruptive to McDonalds-Burger King-Wendy's, etc. Not that that's a bad thing, but it will probably result in lower sales for those cheapo fast-food joints, and may wipe out some jobs that are currently supporting some families.
