No!
These are SURFACE active microbicides! They work on the SURFACE of objects. (They also work way faster than 1 minutes, but the CDC testing was for 1 minute. The chemical reactions with active chlorine compounds show kinetic rates that are 1/50th of that. A little extra contact time for reasons of mass transfer is useful.)
They do not work at the tiny concentration that would result from dilution in the blood stream.
This would not only be exceedingly dangerous, but also useless!

I never claimed anybody here was stupid, either.
Thanks for your enlightening reply, though!

(65,159 posts)Alas, I don't share this one with you.
It was just a comment, with a technical reason why it's stupid.
Don't see how this got you disjointed.

(95,252 posts)The arrant stupidity of these two posts has me flummoxed. Perhaps it is simply how early in the morning this is, and you are commenting without adequate coffee.
Your suggestion the gentleman you are addressing even might think members of this forum have to be told not to inject or swallow bleach and other disinfectants is as foolish as it is offensive.
That apparently you cannot think of any other reason than warning people not to do it for someone to take the time to lay out some reasons why it would not work, even beyond the obvious poisonous nature of the chemicals involved, bespeaks a serious want of imagination, to say the least.
On reflection, you may find use of the self-delete function advisable.

(102,343 posts)and that has always included you, The Magistrate, who I enthusiastically welcomed back after your long absence. I still do so despite your attempt to deride for stating the obvious.
I do not believe DUERs to require condescending posts to remind them not to drink nor ingest bleach. Commenting on Trump's stupid comments is quite different from that.
And yes, perhaps your OWN use of self-delete is good advice to keep in mind, SIR.
The Magistrate
(95,252 posts)And hope you reconsider.
I found the Professor's laying out of why surface disinfectants would not work within the body, even supposing one that was not poisonous could be found, interesting and illuminating. I certainly did not feel I, or anyone else here, was being warned by that explanation not to inject or swallow surface disinfectants as a remedy or a preventive against the current contagion. I am puzzled that is the meaning you take from it, and still insist upon ascribing to it. Two meanings which seem far more likely are simple pleasure in providing information and understanding to others, and setting out a line of argument which might be of use to those among us who do visit open forums infested with right-wingers, or troll overtly right-wing sites.

(22,156 posts)more scientific, rational thought somewhere (on DU for example) so the occasional republican who ventures over to DU to actually read some pretty well reasoned and rational arguments that actually makes sense / logic.
When you have folks like Steven Moore, Rush L., etc. all mouthpieces of some dubious value, occupying faux news and the like, where do people turn, for actually making sense of things?

(14,860 posts)Regardless of that, we all know better than to inject disinfectants, and the Professor isn't implying otherwise. We all know it's a stupid idea, and it's dangerous and wouldn't work, but it's interesting to read the explanation of exactly why it wouldn't work.

(65,159 posts)With all due respect to your son, of course.
He said it because he's a buffoon. No deeper reason is required.
And, your son's possible explanation doesn't begin to cover the stupid subdermal uV blather.
He's just a stupid, stupid man and just blurts out stupid, stupud thoughts.

(2,198 posts)Possibly chief among many mistakes made by educators, and this includes virtually everyone including parents, siblings, store clerks and elected officials, is a common assumption that others must know a particular fact or concept, like the concepts of dilutions concentrations.
Good DUers do not necessarily all understand how horribly wrong the president is, not in a detailed way, and your posts are always welcome.
Ironically, the suggestion that the information would be better shared to sites which shall not be named is, frankly, silly, as visitors of such sites lack the cognitive tools needed to understand your arguments and the soul required to do anything about it if they did comprehend them.
So, hats off to you, Professor!
