Remember when GOP said "criticizing the President during wartime" gave "aide & comfort" to enemies?

I thought I must have been dreaming since Ari Fleischer was on the tee-vee saying he "couldn't remember" such a thing ever happening when Dems criticized Bush...

http://www.brendan-nyhan.com/blog/gop-dissent-attacks.html

After Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) said "the direction [in Iraq] has got be changed or it is unwinnable," Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) said Democrats are "basically giving aid and comfort to the enemy." Similarly, when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called President Bush an "incompetent leader," House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) said Pelosi "apparently is so caught up in partisan hatred for President Bush that her words are putting American lives at risk."

if they wanted to deregulate the amount of crape companies were putting into hot dogs and you opposed it you were a scumsucking terrorist enabler.

We had a local row officer in county government ball about having opposition during a time of war.

I said ALL that Commander in Chief! and no opposition to the president when troops are in the field crape would end in January of 2009 two years before, and it ended with a very silent thud when President Obama was sworn in.

But in this country that bridge was crossed long ago. Both Johnson and Nixon were criticized during the Vietnam war and that pattern has continued until this day. Nobody cares anymore, it has become just another political talking point.
