(12,712 posts)We have to watch out for he reality TV fight script that generates injected controversy and excitement like a couple who break up, make up, etc.
He is all about the show, the optics, The Spectacle, the Simulation and so is Fox. They were made for each other. You may recall the fake fight with Barr. That didn't last long. The test marketing didn't work on that one so they canned it.
Homie don't play that. I see how they tend to manipulate BOTH sides, so I take it with a grain of salt and consider the value it has in their mutual agreements, ratings and the propaganda value it has.

What little I watched was pretty damning, but there was so much trump involved I had to quit.

(1,159 posts)Interesting. I just watched it in another thread, and I had assumed the original clips were falsely attacking Biden or Obama, and that the Daily Show was doing a turnabout, i.e. turning Fox propaganda against Trump to show that the comments were demonstrably more descriptive of Trump.

(14,855 posts)I'm a little disappointed in The Daily Show if they used commentary out-of-context in that manner -- which is more like a right-wing strategy -- unless it was explicitly stated as a joke for the purposes you mentioned.
There's NO WAY Hannity would speak against his evil emperor that way.

I thought Democrats should have been using Fox attacks against Republicans a long, long time ago. Yes, it would have been a smidge more honest to mention at the end that, "Sure, we all know Fox would never apply their own rules against their fellow, right-wing Republicans, but that doesn't mean we can't." Me, I ain't sweating it, though. It's about damned time Democrats started fighting fire with fire, even if it took The Lincoln Project to show us how it's done.
