Who Is Trump Harming the Most? Not Us!
It's not us DUers, I think. We know he's lying and are generally doing the opposite of what he suggests. We're wearing our masks, using social distancing and trying to avoid CV-19 as much as possible.
It's not Democrats, who are mostly doing the same as we are doing.
His failure to wear a mask, even when others are wearing masks, his taking of hydroxychloroquine despite the negative evidence about it, and his general flouting of precautionary measures are tempting only one group to follow his lead - his wackadoo base. The more he convinces that base to do as he does, the more danger they face from this pandemic.
States with Republican Governors are leading the way in premature re-openings. Fundamentalist Christian churches are leading the way in refusing to enforce social distancing by resuming worship services. Right wing gun rights groups and would-be militias are protesting, sans masks and fully armed. They're all following Trump's lead and displaying dangerous behavior.
Trump is encouraging his own supporters to take risks with COVID-19 exposure. He is exercising leadership in guiding his followers to refuse to follow expert medical advice from epidemiologists. He holds himself out as an example of what to do. He is planning to begin holding large campaign rallies again in the near future.
So, keep up the good work, Democrats, progressives, and liberals! Keep your distance and keep wearing those masks. That way, in November, we'll be able to vote the SOB out of office while Trump supporters are gasping for breath. Trump is doing some of our work for us by encouraging unhealthful behaviors among his supporters.
