I feel very bad for her...if there is heat it's probably going to fall on her, more than Obama.

To lose one of your own, in the State Dept., must be incredibly hard. I could barely watch the remarks today (too sad) and I didn't even know Ambassador Stevens.

You could tell she's taking this very hard, and I think it's especially touching considering that primary season so many years ago. I know they've been over it for a while, but it's so nice to see that they have this level of regard for each other after working together so long.

Most male politicians--this is just my opinion, of course--wouldn't feel comfortable with a holding-hands moment like that. I mean, please, Romney and Ryan reaching out to each other at a vulnerable, human moment like that? Of course not.

But I can imagine a similar moment between Obama and Biden. There are probably people who wouldn't want their leaders to display their feelings at a time like that--and while I disagree, I can respect that. I guess--but I really admire leaders who are badasses most of the time but who aren't afraid to show their heartfelt emotions in public.

That was such a poignant ceremony. I saw the NYT picture of Chris Stevens after the attack and it made the whole thing so real--so heartbreaking, it's just horrible how needless it all was, but maybe in his last moments he might have been aware of people trying to help him and the others who died. This is all so tragic, that pointless and stupid hatred and bigotry would cause the deaths of good people....

and gatherings for sad events over the years. Something about
this one was especially daunting and emotional. For me, I have been
almost surprised there haven't been greater uprisings over the atrocities
of the Bush years due to many things like GITMO that have continued
with Obama. The world is such a fragile place and we are on the edge of a
political precipice. President Obama and Sec. Clinton have the world on their shoulders.
The looming election makes every comment and move they make an
opportunity for the low lifes on the right to critique. Watching them together,
the mutual respect and support, the strength of character gave me confirmation
we are in the best of hands.
