Jim DeMint (R-SC) jokingly compared the teachers strike in Chicago to the unrest in the Middle East during a speech at the Values Voters summit Friday morning. You know, we had a lot of bad news this week, DeMint began. On my way over, I was reading another story about a distant place where thugs had put 400,000 children out in the streets. And then I realized that was a story about the Chicago teachers strike.

Fifteen of the big dollar donors to Stand's efforts also contributed to Rahm Emanuel's mayoral campaign. The top givers were Griffin and his wife, with $200,000 in contributions, while the Crowns gave $115,000 and Hulsizer chipped in $100,000. In total, Stand for Children donors gave $720,000 to Emanuel's campaign.
You have to wonder if Obama's first two years would have done better with someone besides this sleaze at his side. rahm and arne are two of the lousiest picks that he could have made. Both have damaged his reputation and misled him badly. Let's hope that he does a better job of choosing advisors for his next term.

(8,994 posts)We should not be giving so much hell to Rahm Emmanuel, after all that would make us monolithic and intolerant of other people's views. It might even alienate haters of teacher's unions and even haters of Occupy Wall Street.
