We can make a better world.

Our tried souls are tired. Tired of trying to bend the moral arc of the universe back towards justice, to see that rainbow at the end of all these storms {to borrow an idea from MLK Jr}. Shakespeare understood. In Antony & Cleopatra, Charmian says: "In time we hate that which we often fear." The Rome of Shakespeare was filled with strife, hate, and riots; as well as his own England. Post Renaissance Europe was a time of discord and revolution. But as Helena proffered in All's Well That Ends Well, "Our remedies oft in ourselves do lie, Which we ascribe to heaven".

We look to the divinity that lies within each of us to guide us through the perils and lead us toward the country and the world that we can shape toward one that aligns with nature and wholeness. All the factionalism and all the fractures within society can be mended and healed. It is up to us to see it through.

2. Apples and oranges

The point of your post, which is absolutely right on, is
like apples to my oranges. Your practicality would be
an end result of the more esoteric, spiritual mindset
of my suggestion. Neither is better or worse than the
other, but rather complementary.

When Gandhi and MLK advocated for nonviolent, peaceful
ways to protest, demonsrate, or subvert a system that
by its nature is cruel and divisive, they were spot on; and
they both achieved great results.

I also think that this view takes both attitudes into account,
and that we all really can make a better world together.
