Agree or disagree with the choice there is a reason. I don't know that I agree with it but I understand it.
What if he gets off? Seeing the video we all have it would seem to be terribly unlikely depending on the exact charge. But
MSNBC has stitched together a lot of the video so far available. Pretty much everything we see up until the hole in the coverage seems routine. You may think it aggressive and I agree, but as a white male whose appearance could appear homeless if you are in the right frame of mind I have been subjected to the exact same from the 3rd. Be that as it may it seemed to me that the police were not really pushing anything until we lose video as they take him to the shop window for the clerk to ID. The only possible out for the officers rests on those moments we haven't seen.
An acquittal coming on top of the one after the Philando Castile shooting that seemed to have all the video needed, and the conviction of Mohamed Noor for shooting a white woman, it could actually get much worse then we have just seen. Without any cap that could be put on it.
They absolutely had to have their ducks in a row, with that thinking.

(32,609 posts)the County Attorney was not doing his job so the state took over this morning and bingo - they arrest Chauvin.

(16,616 posts)Maybe there was a sharp disagreement about hauling Chauvin in yesterday, or a plan fell through at the last moment? I sure would like to know what it was about.

(21,714 posts)it won't surprise me if he isn't convicted. I think that would be very wrong, but arrest doesn't mean he will be convicted.

(35,287 posts)In the footage we can't see would imply Floyd knew when he was on camera and when he wasn't
Not likely
It would just be the reaction to being ID'ed.

(38,601 posts)...and not cooperating with the investigation was slowing things down. I wondered why every arrestee didnt try that. But I assume its (as others have said) extra care to get it done right.
Now I hope they arrest the other 3. It feels unfinished.

24/7 news cycle does help lose perspective at times, we all want it YESTERFUCKINGDAY?
Cops get special treatment, it's fucked up, but it is what it is?
They are trusted servants at the highest in person in your face level, and yes even they are not infallible.
Just like every job there is, there are fucking idiots doing it some place, even in the highest office in the land?
We have to work in this world, money was made mandatory and probably where we went wrong as a species?
What passes for work often laughable, am well aware of that!
I aint excusing anything, these fucking careless assholes deserve what's coming to them, and not just talking about these easily despised bad apple cops?
The behind the scenes mad scramble of police with local govt. must be worthy of a 2 part mini-series at least?
Clancy Brown has to play Officer Chauvin, thinking Idris Elba for George Floyd.

Too bad that application of our justice system was not equally applied to George Floyd. Or Eric Garner. Or Sandra Bland. Et al. Ad nauseum.
