That was then, this is now. Young kids and adults know Trump is responsible for most if not all the racial tension now. Hes gonna lose and bad.

could leave them in power -- in the senate and many state and local governments -- if they're not held responsible for their actions. That's exactly what McConnell and company are desperately working toward. Excise the symptom of their disease, leave them in power.

the cratered economy and the bungled virus response is going to help trump get elected?

Nah, these protests by mostly young people of all colors is waking more and more people up. And I'm betting this awakening will be the thing that finally gets younger people to vote heavily to get trump out.

This is not helping trump. His disappearance from even addressing the nation is making people see he's no leader. We need a president and he ain't it.

You don't seem to. Pessimism does not work for me.

trump is an inept imbecile and the worst thing that ever happened to the nation. Work to get rid of him instead retreating into defeatism.

These protests are a revolt against trumpism as well as racism, which are synonymous in many ways.

It depends on how our side reacts to it. If we show a lack of empathy and only express concern about the outcome of an election without addressing the plight of the oppressed. Yes we can lose.
Thank goodness Biden is striking the right tone. Thank goodness he has shown a genuine concern for the people. He did a phenomenal job today.
POC have greater influence in the electoral process today. This will only motivate more of us to vote in November. If the Democratic party does not alienate one of their key constituents, Trump won't win.
Unlike Nixon, Trump is the incumbent, this is on him. He can try but Nixon's playbook won't apply here. His handling of this will be judged in November.
Democrats need to unite behind our base. United we stand, divided we fall.

the United States is more "multi" everything.....multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-racial...no longer "back of the bus"...we own the "bus".. and we've had it!..racial hatred, police brutality, ethnic hatred, school shootings, white domestic terrorism...this is Trump fomenting hate...hate out of the shadows into the White House...this is about the pandemic, the loss of lives, the loss of jobs, inability to feed families...the unknown... and a vicious sociopath and his minions determined to subjugate "the other" for the sake of staying in power...

are drawn to micro-weenied authoritarians like the Rump and his cronies. Low information voters who see riots and feel afraid are drawn to these phony militaristic blowhards. And I agree that I think there are some right wingers who are flaming these crowds.

These protests give Trump an opportunity to take advantage of. This is the same as COVID-19, economic collapse, ect. However, in each case Trump has shown an absolute inability to lead in crisis. This is becoming evidently clear to everyone watching, even his supporters are starting to see this. His poll numbers have been falling apart over the last week or two, seeing many of them dipping back into the high 30s where they had been in the mid 40s a month ago.

This is just another crisis point where Trump is proving that he is not a leader.

Look at what Joe Biden did today. He delivered a masterful address where he put his empathy on full display and outlined a way to begin to heal as a nation. He laid out how we need to address this problem now rather than just put on a bandage and pretend things are better. He didn't say this was an easy thing but instead that is should make us uncomfortable so that we can grow.

Trump on the other hand threatened to have the military start shooting black American citizens and ranted about China.

In politics a crisis is an opportunity. People want to rally around their leaders in times of great strife, but at every turn Trump fails at this. There is a reason why he is the only leader in the world who is less popular now than he was before the pandemic started.

Biden is no Bill (in terms of political talent) but he comes at politics with that similar 'feel your pain' empathetic angle that suits this moment.

2020 is different that 2016. Trump had his racist base but also the advantage of being the 'infomercial salesman' who some (especially independents and apoliticals) voted for hoping 'for magic'. Trump may still win - but he lacks that advantage now, as most people (outside of his core base) know he isn't effective and can't work magic.

It's hard to see destruction all over the country and get people to vote for more of that.

Instead of thinking how this can benefit Donnie Shit for Brains, we should think about how Biden could win 49 States.

There should be daily calls from all over the country for Donnie Dipshit to resign.

He should be asked about resigning everytime he shows his face.

That should be the ONLY response to this unrest..."Mr President, have you considered resignation?"

You want to see these demonstrations end and begin to see the intensity diminishing? Have the Dipshit resign.

Want to see our country begin the healing process? Have the Dipshit resign.

And for the Retrumplicans in power, This is what happens when you have a minority, but pretend it's a majority

This is what happens when you lose the popular vote in 3 presidential elections over the past 20 years and still are awarded the presidency.

This is what happens when you have so gerrymandered the fucking states that you get 45% of the vote and 65% of the representation

Johnson was president when the riots happened and he was not running for reelection. Circumstances are completely different.
If this is Trump' s strategy, it's not going to work.
