Tom Cotton just called on Trump to use the Insurrection Act

As I posted yesterday

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100213513271

there's been a RW chorus calling for this, as a way to get around Posse Comitatus.

Cotton's tweet, with video from Fox News:

The president should use the Insurrection Act to deploy active-duty military forces to these cities to support local law enforcement and ensure this violence ends tonight.

I think that any chance Drumpf has of even a mild recovery in the economy, will disappear if he does this.

People are going to want to go outside, and get their lives back to normal, if there are armed military all over the streets?

Not me.

It's odd, I can't seem to find examples of Tom Cotton saying anything like this when armed right-wing terrorists seized a government building in Oregon and forcibly held it for 40 days while federal authorities twiddled their thumbs. Oh wait, did I say "odd"? I meant predictable.

even anti-democratic, leaders, including on the left, including all racial groups. If it was seen as effective, it'd help.

But what could go wrong?

The kind of violent LW extremists Trump/Repubs are claiming are almost nonexistent compared to the RW extremists we know are out there setting fires. If the RW terrorists pulled back as the RW-controlled military came in, leaving AA demonstrators for justice, who'd get hurt?

being moved to the bunker for an hour if they do. It's a favorite theme here, but that's all.

Tanks with machine gunners rolling down city streets would be unmissable. And Trump's bloviation, chest puffed out strongman style, would, of necessity, need to be covered by every news service.

that he's been insulting them similarly during every call. He's not one to waste a captive audience, though I wouldn't bet a nickle that a bunch of them don't have assistants tell them when and if to start listening again either. They're kind of busy all the time.

10 U.S. Code § 252.Use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority
U.S. Code

Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

If they intend to use the military to enforce law, America is FAR too big an area to do it with the Armed forces, even if they federalize all the Nationsl Guard units. They'll be playing "Whack-A-Protester" all over the country. They couldn't do it in Iraq, a country much smaller in size and population. And it's an unknown how zealously the military pursues this mission, when it's going against their own neighbors, friends, and family.
