They said the demonstrations began to grow around 2:45 p.m. and by 4 p.m., there were an estimated 10,000 involved in the protests across the city.
Among the thousands, dozens became violent and began burning cars and causing property damage. By dawn Sunday, hundreds of buildings were damaged in Downtown Seattle while another 90 businesses were hit by rioters in the International District.
At least six SPD officers suffered minor injuries as some community members, officials said.
Of the 57 eventually arrested Saturday, most were being held for investigation of burglary and assault.

(33,345 posts)I'm looking forward to a list of those arrested. Let's separate the looters from the Black Block from the Proud Boy provocateurs.
Im assuming you meant hide?
My guess would be that its an ongoing investigation into gang activity and they don't want to tip off that they are on to them. The looting in Bellevue yesterday had implanted officers in the group and they had a heads up before it started (according to local news).

Police Chief Steve Mylett said at a press conference Sunday evening that officers learned yesterday about known gang members planning to go to a planned peaceful protest in Bellevue and "cause trouble."
"They were not there to protest the tragic death of George Floyd. They were there to destroy," Mylett said. "We welcome peaceful protesting. We want citizens to exercise their rights. I didnt even hear George Floyds name."
The looters and rioters came from another direction and joined with a small group of peaceful protesters before they began their crime spree, the chief said.
