I could visualize Lori Lightfoot standing with JB Pritzker in front of our National Guard troops, facing the U.S. military. Trump will be out to get JB after our governor stood up to the orange menace.

believe a governor has every right to defend a state that has not seceded against wrongfully invading federal troops.

I believe the law is a governor must request the assistance of federal troops for them to be deployed lawfully.

The National Guard would have to refuse the orders from DC. Then follow the governor's orders to oppose Federal forces.

Does that scenario sound familiar? It happened once before.

But the Guard is a dual membership force. They belong to their state and the regular Army.

If there is a dispute between state and Federal orders, the courts have determined Federal takes precedence.
