we could be in trouble? That was several months ago and now that Gen. Milley walking on streets in DC. Hope Milley get some smarts and fast!

(6,395 posts)...a lot of retired military brass are condemning Trump.
If they are saying that, then its a good bet the active military brass is thinking the same thing.

Watching as other country's governments fell to a dictator, there is a pattern, & a definate & similar method to their madness.

(16,786 posts)They are not Generals in name only, they live it well after leaving active duty. It is in their blood why they served this country.

(12,712 posts)The Army already did, in a way. While not "illegal" due to the jurisdiction, (no need for the Governor's permission in DC) a Blackhawk helicopter demonstrated a show of force over the Chinatown District in DC tonight. That's a tactic used to disrupt insurgents. I call that a military action by all means.
It ignored FAA rules and certainly put civilians standing below in possible physical danger since trees can easily snap and debris is whipped around. Branches did snap and fly in this case. A helicopter that big and that close to the ground can do that.
Bunker Bitch ordered it. His fear is making him demonstrate domination. What's next?
Where is Posse Comitatus at now?

(38,428 posts)...If you are going to defy the Commander in Chief as defined by the Constitution of the United States, you had better have a better reason than to refuse a walk down the street.
... A walk down the street, "To take a look" is ok, and that does not mean that Trump has the "Generals behind him"
What it really means is that they are unwilling to defy the President at this time. If the President orders violence at another time, then we may see the Generals defy orders. It is not the time or place to disobey orders of the President. But I believe, if Trump orders .."shoot to kill" then the Generals will defy Trump.
Please consider the consequences..You do what you got to do, when the time is right, not before.

(11,471 posts)Went from leaning republican to voting for Biden and Hillary because of him. They think he is against all the morals you are taught as a officer.
He is working in a generals office right now but have no idea what he believes, I do know my daughter made masks for his whole family and general.

(1,603 posts)form their own Old Boys Network (albeit with an increasing number of Old Girls). They have lunch or dinner with the active-duty brass at the Officers Club, frequently are in the same social networks, and form a role something akin to that of a board of advisors for a corporation. Additionally, unlike the politicos, generals usually have long careers that don't necessarily cavil to overt political interests, meaning that they always need to be looking past the current administration. There are strong pro-Trump generals, but there aren't likely to be many of them. Unlike the ersatz militias, by the time you reach flag rank, you've usually been vetted and are likely to be moderately conservative, but not an extremist.
Trump is despised by most O6s and above. Moreover, until recently, the picks for Sec Def and the Joint Chiefs were usually fairly solid military men (Kelly being a good example), with his resignation, Trump lost the support of the military, and he's not done a lot since then to be able to get it back.
