But what is more important, he spoke about measures that could begin to be taken to address institutional racism, right now by Congress and later when he is president, to help address this longstanding situation. And he didn't promise utopia, which is unrealistic; he spoke about making tangible progress, even very big progress, but never assuming that we have the problem licked.
Why didn't you ask about his message and his policies as well as the amount of shade he could throw? I'd say he needs to throw just enough to make a contrast in how his presidency would differ (in empathy, policy, leadership). But nobody who supports Trump will be motivated to reject him based upon what a Democrat says. So it's pretty much a waste of breath on that score.
