Judge says Justice Dept distorted justice system to protect Micheal Flynn - says Flynn s/b sentenced

politico A former judge selected to advise on a path forward in the criminal case against Michael Flynn is accusing the Justice Department of distorting the justice system to protect an ally of President Trump by attempting to shut down the prosecution.⁣

The former federal judge, John Gleeson, is recommending that the judge handling the case instead proceed to sentence the former Trump national security adviser on the false-statement charge he admitted to two-and-a-half years ago.

"The facts surrounding the filing of the Government's motion constitute clear evidence of gross prosecutorial abuse. They reveal an unconvincing effort to disguise as legitimate a decision to dismiss that is based solely on the fact that Flynn is a political ally of President Trump," Gleeson wrote in a filing today with Washington-based U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan, who formally tapped Gleeson to weigh in as a friend of the court.⁣

However, Gleeson urged Sullivan not to pursue contempt proceedings against Flynn for seemingly contradictory statements made about his actions. Though there is “ample” evidence to support such a move, Gleeson recommended factoring it into Flynn’s sentencing for his initial guilty plea rather than initiating new action related to the about-face.⁣

Gleeson spent much of his 82-page brief recounting the events that precipitated Flynn’s guilty plea, abrupt reversal and DOJ’s decision to drop the case. He noted that Trump tweeted about the case more than 100 times in the interim.⁣

“Everything about this is irregular,” Gleeson wrote. More at the link in bio.⁣

election. The reason that Barr is trying to get the case dropped, is because Trump wants to pardon him. That would be really bad politically.

an obscenity to Justice. At the time adjudicated and clearly obstructed for political purposes, Flynn was eventually freed under the veil of a subjective and personal presidential "best people" defense and under an abominable disregard for facts against "rule of Federal law" with appropriate pleas of the perp so charged and self-convicted." Self-confessed criminals are clearly not "best people" worthy of a dropped case without the teeth of real consequence of offense or an illegitimate, politically motivated, full pardon or commutation.

JH Priest, Flynn damaged the integrity of Dimwit Donnie's campaign, an oxymoron in and of itself, and is certainly unworthy of any less than full and real consequences of jail time, re-visited discharge status, and with loss of that status as a military officer, loss of any pension earned on account of that status, under "equal justice" as a citizen or military Justice in which he clearly dishonored his oath.

Clearly, he did not protect Constitutional norms of America's election process by evading the rules of that road. There are NO special circumstances for these crimes; they were politically and covertly committed and IMHO, seriously unforgivable in that the commission of those crimes diminished both the Office of the Presidency and the rule of law. Get it done with: sentence to full extent, especially if blended into the single count (best choice(?), and get her done. Stalling in the hope one could stretch the controversy past a post-dTrump term or transition period seems as unethical as the person that would politically issue him that full pardon. Would it be possible not to blend the sentences, thereby pardon possible only for that single self-confessed count and re-visit the consequences for that 2nd self-confessed count later should term of incarceration out-last a Trump presidency? I ask because can't recall just now what the maximum sentence of each count could be given when not considered in blending them.

because after the election, if they reveal something, it won't change Trump's election prospects. They will lose a bunch of their hammer against Trump after Nov 3rd.

Trump HAS to pardon Stone. He has no choice. Stone could end Trump's election chances by validating Russia coordination claims.

If Trump has to pardon Flynn, it will get worse for him politically because it would more clear publicly what he is up to.
