The big looming risk for investors? A second wave of coronavirus

London(CNN Business)The breathless run-up in stocks in recent weeks has met some resistance.

What's happening: Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's cautious stance on the economic recovery is giving some investors pause Thursday, with Japan's Nikkei diving 2.7% and Europe's Stoxx 600 falling more than 2% in early trading. Dow futures are off 2%, or more than 520 points.

Selling is also being spurred by fears of a possible second wave of coronavirus infections as parts of the world reopen. The United States has now passed 2 million confirmed cases of the virus, according to data from Johns Hopkins.

Covid-19 hospitalizations since Memorial Day have gone up in at least a dozen US states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Utah.

"While it might take several weeks to know if this is a broader problem, infection counts will again become a key barometer of risk that cannot be ignored," Hussein Sayed, chief market strategist at FXTM, told clients Thursday.

I wonder if he will finally be held accountable for the federal government's failures this time around? Because I tell you what will happen, we'll have supply shortages, we'll have states competing against each other for limited resources, and we'll have a President making everything worse and worse with each childish Tweet.

America is about to find out that Trump has done very little to get the country ready for the 2nd wave, it will be just like the first wave.

He knows 100% the virus isn't abating, isn't slowing and will be in full swing come Nov. In fact he's counting on it and needs it to be a scary time with very scary optics so red states can use this is justify shutting down most precincts in blue cities causing lines that last all day. He has his folks gunning up right now (told to us by a gunshop owner) to stop libtards from stealing the election and they are planning to make us risk our lives to vote. He has to have a pandemic to cause this and the resulting violence so he can declare martial law, say Antifa disrupting elections when it's his white nationalists and militia types that are doing the shooting, and stop the elections. RW Fascist Russian Repug SCOTUS will go along because they've been part of the plot for years and America will be gone.

That is his plan. Look at how he exhorts us to go to the beach, go to concerts, go to games, go to church and crowd in together and raise your voices - all these are plans to kill us and to increase the chaos so he can implement PUtins' final plan.
