Trump Takes It As A Challenge.....

We all know - because it is being done in plain sight right before our eyes - that Trump and the Repugs are trying to rig the Nov election to their advantage.

It's all over the MSM that this is being done - almost like it is an accepted fact.

Because everyone says it is being done - Trump can't miss the opportunity to make it happen. In his mind - everybody is expecting this from me and my Party - so why don't I/we take advantage of their tacit acceptance and do it. He takes this as 'kind of a challenge'.

In a sense - we are giving him and his Party permission to rig the Nov election. Suppress, cheat and steal votes.

He also is being given permission to stay in the WH after the Nov election - no matter the outcome.

Again - how many posts have we seen here on DU? How many talking heads on the cable news shows said he's going to do this? How many articles have been printed in the newspapers saying he's not going to leave the WH after the election?

And again - in his mind he saying to himself - if this is what they expect from me - I can't disappoint.

The thing that gets me is that we let this happen right before our eyes. We know what he and his Party are going to do - and we do nothing to stop it from happening.

How many more Georgia's are we going to give a pass to? Are we going to let this happen without a fight?

We ALL need to push back like our lives depend on it, because they do. These protests must continue and the BLM movement must include equal access to voting for all and calling out Trump for the misogynistic, racist scum he is. He has brought this to a head and is responsible for ripping this country in two.

By bringing it in the open, people will know what is going on, watch for suppression, understand what he is doing, check to make sure they are not dropped from the voting rolls etc.

It is better for us to know, so we can fight it, don't want to be caught with heads in the sand.

I'm not suggesting that such things shouldn't be talked about. They need to be pointed out every time the Repugs try to get away with such dirty dealing.

We need to be more forceful when discussing voter suppression, cheating and stealing votes and make it known that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated and that the Dems will do everything in their power to prevent these kind of things from happening.

We need to say and be more vigilant and we need to call out these situations every time that they occur.

What just happened in Georgia should not be tolerated. Those responsible for the lack of machines; the lack of training the poll workers on the new equipment/new software; even the cutting back on polling places - need to be held accountable. We know these things (new machines/new software, etc) in advance of an election - yet it seems like we never are pro-active to minimize these issues before an election - we only talk about them the day after the election - when it's too late. And then we don't take action to prevent such occurrences in the next election.

If we have to - we need to mobilize an army of poll watchers to monitor these elections. We need to hire lawyers to prosecute the suppressors, cheaters and stealers of votes.

Is there a better way we can utilize the talents of the campaign workers that spent months out on the campaign trail for the primary candidates? Can we mobilize those people to watch the polling places and train poll workers on the new equipment, etc? They have a vested interest in getting their Party to succeed and get elected. Is it not worth it to the Dem Party to continue these people on the payroll to help get the Dem Candidate elected? Why after the primaries are over - do we let these valuable campaign workers that basically share our same Democratic principles - get away?

Otherwise - like I pointed out in my OP - just by saying after the fact that we know we've been cheated - we give these cheaters tacit approval to continue their suppressing, cheating and stealing ways.

We had a small election (meaning low turnout) for Constitutional Amendments in Nov 2019 which was a perfect lab test for the new equipment. We were very confident everything would work in March, which for the most part it did.

We had serious training, hands on with the equipment in classes of about 30 at a time for three weeks; 2 to 3 classes per day. We also did community demonstrations all around the county; all a group had to do was ask for it. My husband and I did 3 together and I did one by myself. We also helped with the classroom training.

The majority of our Presiding Election Judges are also precinct chairs, and we recruit our own staff, so we are getting folks who are involved. Everybody has to be trained; either on line or in person. For primary elections, we recruit our workers from from our own parties.

Most of our campaign volunteers are outside the larger voting centers handing out push cards, greeting voters, etc. Or driving voters, making phone calls etc.

In Texas if you want to be a poll watcher, you have to register with the county elections office, sign in at the precinct you are working and show your credentials. You have to stay in one place a minimum of 4 hours so can't hop from one voting center to another.

About Voting Centers: Tarrant has approximately 350 precincts and about 300 have a voting location on Election Day. They are evenly distributed all across the county, and there are some locations which combine two or three adjoining precincts. When we went to Voting Centers, we did not close any of our existing locations, but we changed the rules so that a person can vote at any location in the county on Election Day. No more sending a voter to chase their home precinct. It was such a pleasure to tell a voter that every place was the right place to vote. Our turnout went up because folks did not have to find the right place.

We think every state should go to voting centers!!!!
