It is so hard to tell the difference between opening up everything and when it was just getting started.

Just had a record yesterday for new cases. But, this is the fourth new record in the last seven days.
We knew we were opening too soon, but our Gov owes his job to trump and was obviously ordered to open.

and maintaining distance and he said that his son told him things were real different down there, no masks, everyone still going to the office to work. It's like they don't think it's real he said. Good luck.

10. Do you think it could be a combination of tRump and pressure from the tourism industry?

Worked an extended service job near Myrtle Beach many years ago and we dared not go near the beach in the summer because of the traffic and wall-to-wall people. SC must get tons of tax revenue from that every year.

Was fun to go up to Murrells Inlet in the winter to eat - no crowds!

Just occurred to me.....

People go to the beach there from all over the eastern U.S. So, this year many will go there and catch COVID-19 and in a few days take it back home with them. New people come there to take their place every day.

Therefore, SC gets a rotation of new sources of tax dollars each day while other areas get a supply of new coronavirus infections and hospitalizations, but no revenue from SC.

Win-win for your governor but pity the poor local tourism workers.......

11. We were in complete lockdown

We just came out too soon. And then we got hit with Memorial Day and crowded beaches, and then the protests were large and all over the state so that is going to be a factor also.
Two weeks ago a majority of people were wearing masks, but now it is mostly female, older and - I presume- Democrats.
Not many men wearing them now, but that’s a combination of Trump adoration and macho southern men who ain’t skeered of nothin.
And yes, tourism is by far the #1 industry, so we will be a long time getting back to a full economy.

Actually drives people inside.
While we all think of the summer as outside time, but in many places it is inside time. It is especially true because people think they should be enjoying it so in a lot of places that will include the beach but a retreat into inside places for fun.
