The Ohio Legislator who claimed

That the African American population ("colored people" - his reference) is more susceptible to Covid 19 is because THEY DON'T WASH THEIR HANDS!!!

Yeah, that guy.

Well, it turns out he's an ER doctor.

And..........

He just got fired from his job.

Consequences! Finally!

You know, for every one of these that make it to general awareness, there must be many that are handled without publicity (and expeditiously in fear of it). A quiet holocaust of jobs, college choices, even careers of racists who can't resist acting out going up in flames.

Boilerplate termination these days: “Dr. Huffman’s comments are wholly inconsistent with our values and commitment to creating a tolerant and diverse workplace. TeamHealth has terminated Dr. Huffman’s employment.”

Good thing this one has his political career to fall back on. Oh, dear. OH legislators are term-limited...

In December 2019, The Washington Post detailed how an editorial in the Sidney Daily News against Medicare for all by Huffman was drafted with the help of lobbyist Kathleen DeLand of the pharmaceutical, hospital, and healthcare insurance lobbying group, Partnership for America's Health Care Future.

Not sure of exact days, but something like:
He said it Tuesday night.
It was all over the news Wednesday morning.
He got axed by noon.
The hospital group spent little time making a decision to launch this tool!
On Edit: Sorry Secondwind!! I meant to reply to the OP.

I am a old white woman that refuses to see a white male doctor over 40 yr old. I realize not all white male doctors have biases or egos that negatively impact the level of care they provide, but it has happened more than once over my lifetime. I won't take the chance. I find younger white male doctors are of a different mindset - generally.

ER doctors you can't really choose. You get luck of the draw. So even more so, it's important to have doctors with their heads and hearts screwed on right. Not to mention a doctor people trust. If *I* don't trust certain doctors because of bad experiences, how much worse is it for non-white patients?

According to the Ohio Covid-19 dashboard 51 % of all cases are white ,25 % listed as Black the others are listed as unknown,multi-racial ,Asian or other .Looks like the whites are not washing their hands according to his theory.

is only in session part time. And an ER doctor would likely not work M-F 9-5. I don't think that's that unusual.

I think it is because sleep apnea ( which causes low oxygen spells when you try to sleep at night combined with high inflammation) makes COVID worse and Blacks are twice as likely to have sleep apnea as whites.

"'People of color' would have been better, but they seem to be interchangeable," Huffman said.
