Once Biden becomes POTUS and we get the Senate

3 things need to happen

1. DC Statehood
2. Puerto Rican Statehood
3. Increase in SCOTUS justices to 11

Yep, Republicans will whine and complain and say the Democrats are trying to build power and the MSM will back them up, but so...nothing is illegal about it and it will be a much needed way of seizing power from the minority Republican Party

You aren't going to get the necessary states to agree to statehood.

Here's what Dems can do to stay in power permanently, protect the right to vote and make voting easy for everyone. And end jerrymandering. Those 2 things would force Republicans to become liberal or case to exist.

Say a 6 or 8 year term (or even 10), with the option of reappointment hearings before the Senate for a 2nd term.

That's about 1 generation. Each generation should get their own judges. Most federal judges are appointed in their 40s these days. That takes you to about 60 or so.

Right now that looks to be Manchin, Tester if we get lucky.

PR statehood might be swingable if PR actually requests it clearly and loudly

DC statehood is probably not a good idea overall and probably too high of a hurdle politically. Its not a state. Its a city. If anything it should be returned to Maryland (as was already done with the VA portion) .

Packing the court is something I am very against. Feels even more underhanded and illegitimate than the republicans dirty games with appointees, would have an extremely high political backlash risk, and essentially makes it OK for whatever party that has control to rewrite the judiciary on the spot to suit their agenda. The last shred of the independence of the judiciary would be lost. Plus I don't think you could get 50 senators for it given the backlash against any purple or red state dems who support it.

What Republicans did to Garland was underhanded and illegitimate and this would be correcting that wrong, and correcting the fact that Dems have won the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 elections but Republicans have cheated their way in appointing 4 justices..And “packing the court” isn’t close to underhanded in what we have witnessed with this Administration. There is nothing saying that the SCOTUS has to be 9 justices and has increased/decreased a few times. Democrats need to grow a spine and not worry about the blowback, and unfortunately Democrats like you are going to be reason it’s not going to happen, because you will be counted against it in public opinion polls...if this was wrong then it wouldn’t be in the constitution. And you really think the judiciary is independent now? Please!

Not sure if 1 is legal (the capital supposedly can't be in an actual state), be we can work on 2.
