...or any other country become nothing more than "THEM" to you, the THEM who apparently understand nothing but force, the THEM who must be shown nothing but "strength" and "resolve" (spelled "bombs" and "bullets&quot , the real people of these countries, with all of their strengths and weaknesses, become lost, and too many who could be friends needlessly become enemies, or die.

7. No disrespect to the lovely young women in the picture,

but Mother Teresa was a nun, and nuns, unlike catholic women in general, wear/wore veils,

much like a priest or a minister wears a clerical.

The situation is not comparable to the custom of muslim women wearing scarves or veils.

Headscarfs were traditionally worn by married Christian women in the Middle Ages.

15. AS a child of the sixties

I had to wear a head covering in the Episcopal Church. (More like a lace doily than a veil, but still....it was a symbolic marker of my gender status)

In America.

That custom has changed, but I lived it (and hated it as a kid.)

11. Can you point me to any posts where anyone said headscarves are proof of oppression?

(maybe they're proof of religious cult brainwashing but I don't think I've ever seen anyone claim they're proof of oppression).
