Santorum: 'There Are No Classes In America'

Santorum: 'There Are No Classes In America'

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum gave the audience at the Republican debate in New Hampshire Saturday night an interesting socicology lesson about American economic structure. He also chided his fellow GOPers on using the term.

“There are no classes in America,” Santorum said. “We are a country that don’t allow for titles. We don’t put people in classes. Maybe middle income people. But the idea somehow another we’re going to buy into the class warfare arguments of Barack Obama something that should not be part of the Republican lexicon.”

we don't have classes except maybe a middle income class??

Doesn't that suggest that if you aren't in the middle class you are in some other class?

there's no class in the Republican party.

I think John Lennon said it best in his song "Working Class Hero":

"..and you think you're so clever, and classless, and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see.."

"Class warfare" was a term Novak used in half of his articles beating Democrats over the head with all of the lies he told about how Democrats ruined America.

So in the sense of titles, there are no "classes". "Class" here is for sale, the price heading upward is quickly quite expensive. I don't hang out with the 1% because of "lowly birth" status, I don't hang out with them because I can't afford the admission. (even if I could, I would pass, but I can't and nearly all of us can't, and that is the point.)

Class here is financial.

Last night he also claimed that Obama did nothing to help the thousands of Iranian protestors who were killed in the Iranian uprising. Yes, the Iran gov't killed protestors in that uprising, and yes, it was despicable, but to claim that there were thousands killed is wrong, too.

Now we'll be hearing how Obama let thousands of Iranians die by not intervening in Iran.

And this proves he has no chance...not that he ever did. What stupid people the GOPers get to run for office...it is as if the paymasters like their people to be that way on purpose.

But as far as there being no classes in America, that's sheer utter tripe.

if there was no classes in America an ordinary guy should be able to run for President, instead, only the extremely wealthy can run for president, just for one example.

No matter what society you live in there will always be a minimum of five different classes:

The wealthy
The workers
The police
The military
The people who run the government

But it does tend to get more complicated than that. For example, workers can be broken up into sub groups, such as scientists, technicians, laborers, and medical.

Then to complicate matters further there are social groups that can form classes of their own. Computer geeks versus sports fans and players as one example.

So to say that there are no classes is sheer utter crap. They do exist, and renaming them or using a softer language or using other dirty tricks to describe them will not make them go away.
