And the funny thing is, with the coronavirus this rally could have been a success if they would have stated that although the arena holds 19,000 people that they would practice social distancing precautions so a limited amounted a people (Say 6,000) would be allowed to attend. Then they could have claimed success and said that they sold out

They were bragging that almost a million people had signed up online to attend an event in a venue that holds 19,000. Together with the virus (evidently at least some of Trump's fanboys think it really exists), this might have encouraged a lot of people decided to stay home and watch it on tv.
