Is he one of them?
Only one way the people can know.

(28,795 posts)they were soft pedaling what romney said, trying to contextualize it into acceptability
one thing they certainly didn't do was fact check the 47 percent pay no income tax claim. can that possibly be true?
if so, we're in even more dire economic straits than I thought, and income inequality has reached heretofore unimaginable proportions

(3,795 posts)... and dads, Americans who have lost their jobs and are looking for new work AND
it includes the many Americans who work for low wages and are not being paid enough to actually have a tax liability. This would include a family of 4 that makes $40,000 since they would not have a tax liability.
As usual, the right wing narrative/propaganda in utilizing statistics to support their point of view is purposefully incomplete and deceptive.
From my point of view it's a scandal that right wingers want to increase taxes on Americans that are already struggling to make ends meet while simultaneously advocating for large tax cuts for the wealthiest who have been gaining more and more of the American income and wealth pie over the last 3 1/2 to 4 decades.

(28,795 posts)ignored it as much as possible, but, for whatever reason, they seem to be holding mitt's feet much closer to the fire than have any other republican candidate since nixon (post Watergate, that would be....he got a mostly free ride in both 68 and 72)

(70 posts)I was a little pissed at how brief it was, ABC only read the part of the Mitt quote "47% of Obama voters would vote for him no matter what", (so, they completely omitted all of the most offensive parts of the Mitt quote). Though to be fair, they said that the tape would likely be covered a lot in the next 24 hours, so maybe it was too late breaking to cover.

(13,776 posts)Good to know it was on ABC, too, even if it was in wimpy form. Boy, the MSM really seem to have suddenly taken a dislike to Mitt. They see what's happening and don't want to be the last ones talking about rearranging the chairs on the Titanic.

Romney to campaign donors: Obama voters "dependent," see selves as "victims"
By Brian Montopoli Topics Campaign 2012
(CBS News) Mitt Romney's campaign has responded to video in which the Republican presidential nominee appears to be shown describing the majority of President Obama's supporters as people who are "dependent on government" and "believe that they are victims."

(Also on POLITICO: Mitt Romney video: 47 percent dependent on Obama)
There are a string of video snippets, and the decision not to publish where and when the event took place is going to raise eyebrows. But the quotes are remarkably free-wheeling, including Romney making a joke similar to one he's made before about his dad, who spent part of his childhood in Mexico:

(4,033 posts)to say why what Romney said was so bad. He pussy footed around, and brought up Obama's statement in 2008 about Pennsylvanians & their guns. Which pales in comparison to this Romney statement.
Trying to find a fault in both campaigns, when their is fault so far, to be found in only one.........is not journalism.

(297,188 posts)logic. Works for me.
The repubs are loving it and thinks it will help Romeny. They are so braindead they dont understand this willl hurt him with most voters and independants who he needs to win. He can only get so far on the old white and racist vote. Look for team mitt to try and twist the facts and use the video to their advantage.
Corn says he has more embarrassing video yet to come. I cant wait!
