Bernie flexes muscle in Tuesday's primaries

Politico

The Vermont senator’s efforts provide a glimpse into how he sees his role in advancing the progressive movement.

Bernie Sanders has raised more than $750,000 for congressional and local candidates in Tuesday’s primaries, his aides told POLITICO.

The Vermont senator’s team also texted more than 120,000 of his supporters to promote the progressives he endorsed in races in New York and Kentucky. His staffers said videos boosting the contenders have received more than 1 million views on social media.

The large fundraising haul shows that Sanders’ email list remains a powerful force — and his efforts in the primaries provide a glimpse into how he sees his role in advancing the progressive movement after ending his presidential bid in April.

“He always said ‘not me, us’ and I think he’s really living those values by throwing his power and the power of his supporters behind some of the most progressive candidates out there,” said Misty Rebik, executive director of his campaign committee Friends of Bernie Sanders. “We really just see this as an extension of the movement that largely was started back in 2015.”

'Hopes to flex muscle' would be closer to accurate at this point in the day.

What muscle he actually has remains to be determined.

She's an awful headline writer... the content isn't much better either. In the past, the things she's written appear to have been "lifted" word for word (or thought for thought) from the Sanders 2020 campaign press releases. I just can't take her seriously.

PS: I completely agree with your observations about what "muscle" that campaign thinks it has... I do know that it would be a mistake for anyone to try and kneecap Biden or do anything at all that would only serve to depress voter turnout, or that would otherwise benefit Trump.

And despite what you may hear from some, Holly is still the best political reporter ever! As the kids would say; the rest is just "jelly"!

Well... it is only Politico after all. I do not believe that Politico has very high standards... or experience requirements in either their reporting or editorial departments. (This is my objective opinion. Other people may have differing opinions that are influenced by emotions or other irrational sentimentality, but this opinion mine.)
