Fauci to Congress: Prepare for the Worst

From: https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/fauci-redfield-coronavirus-testimony-06-23-20/index.html

"The way you address that — and I've said this over and over again — is you have to have the manpower, the system, the testing to identify, isolate and contact trace in an effective way so that when you see those increases, you can understand where they are coming from, and you can do something about them," Fauci said.

Fauci added, "right now the next couple of weeks are going to be critical in our ability to address those surgings that we're seeing in Florida, in Texas and in Arizona."

In other words: Prepare for the Worst. Fauci (and members of Congress) know that Trump is not going to initiate the kind of response that is needed that he warns us about the criticality of the next two weeks.

It is going to get very very bad.

Dereliction of duty. How dare anyone take the oath of office and then respond to a crisis in a criminal way like this. That's not a mere opinion or partisan, the numbers don't lie.

Grump is a deadly American disease and he is practicing a form of stochastic genocide that is similar to his stochastic terrorism.

He is blaming the young people and doing nothing to slow the spread. His Order prevents any mayor from enacting their own, more strict, virus policies. We are stuck in this petri dish of a state.

Stuck with ignorant people who think wearing a mask is a political statement rather than an attempt to limit the spread of a deadly virus.

I will say that in Austin things are much different. Almost everyone is wearing masks in public and woe to those who do not. They will experience lack of mask shaming like you have never seen! In my part of the state most people do not wear one, and when they do, typically it is under their nose or chin.

“...and it will go away” line, which is enough for drumpf to cling to and do nothing.

Plus the “we might have a vaccine by December” line.

Now both of those things might be true, but I could do with more stern warnings and fewer statements that sound like it’s almost over, so let’s just run out the clock until the vaccine arrives.

Maybe it’s just me.

Truth - COVID-19 is still dangerous and still out of control in many areas

Trump desire - the worst has to be over because I need the economy to be recovered to win

Truth - masks, social distancing, minimizing large groups and contact as much as possible are the ONLY tools available right now, and likely for the foreseeable future. Therapeutics and vaccines are STILL a long ways off and people need to understand that.

Trump desire - the economy won't recover unless people are optimistic about the virus being contained or less lethal to people they know or themselves...so bullshit them like a zoning board or bully them like a contractor you don't want to pay...why not? Worked before...

Truth - Trump's worthless ass has been exposed to all and he is going to be rebuked in November and sent packing...

Trump desire - still thinks he is in charge of everything (while doing essentially nothing) and cannot accept the fact that his bungling has cost 120,000 lives and millions of families their economic security - he desperately wants to convince people that their lives matter less than his re-election.

Texas is somewhat humid in parts of the state. Today Fort Worth is at 87% but it has been rainy for several days. Normally we run lower and are usually behind the Ohio Valley. Florida of course is the exact opposite of AZ

I think Phoenix average humidity is 7 %

His maladministration keeps citing the millions of people saved by his handling of the virus, while ignoring the facts related to flattening the curve with earlier action. They keep on citing these inflated death numbers based on doing nothing vs doing something, it is sickening to listen to and it has to be stopped.

The media needs to step up and challenge them every time they use this ploy. They need to point out how disgusting it is to compare doing nothing with a failure to shutdown the country early enough to save tens of thousands of lives.

I am shaking, I'm so mad.

that would be acceptable to the American public as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and was Trump's less-than-adequate response to the pandemic based this calculation. I doubt Fauci would answer such a question, but his reaction would be interesting.

How bad? Dummy's incompetence and malice are going to get this whole country quarantined by the rest of the world until we get out act together. First it will be travel. Next it will be shipping.

Unfortunately, it will be the kind of thing that gets stupid people to rally around the worst leaders, which is why I hope they'll hold off until fall, quarantining travelers instead of banning them altogether.

This really is the perfect storm for this country. Those of us who woke up after the 2016 election with a feeling of dread that hasn't gone away were right to feel that way.

The New York Times runs Coronavirus Updates daily. Here are tidbits in my news copy for today that terrified me:

* Infections in the U.S. have begun to balloon again after declining in the spring. The United States accounted for 20 percent of the new infections reported worldwide on Sunday, even though the country has only about 4.3 percent of the world's population.

* Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director of the W.H.O. said on Monday that there were more than 183,000 new cases worldwide in the past 24 hours, "easily the most in a single day so far." He also noted that it had taken three months for the coronavirus to infects its first million people, but only eight days to infect the most recent million.
