Feds: Noose Found In Bubba Wallace's Garage Had Been There Since At Least October

Last edited Tue Jun 23, 2020, 06:24 PM - Edit history (1)

This is actually a good thing.
One was that it was an honest mistake and not an act of racism.
And two that the reaction was to come together against racism.

And since people want to comment without reading the article:

The statement said the garage stall was assigned to Wallace last week in advance of the race scheduled for Sunday but held on Monday because of rain. Through video confirmed by NASCAR it was discovered the noose had been “was in that garage as early as October 2019.”

Like, oh darn I misplaced my noose a few months ago, my bad.
When is it appropriate to place a noose in a black person house or garage? Answer: never.

a door pull that has been there for a year. Before it was Wallace's garage.

So many people do... and most knots, nooses included, can be tied in under three minutes.

Was skeptical about this as well so I went off to google image search.

This is at Daytona, a different track. Look in the upper left, you can see two noose like loops hanging on the two nearest doors

This really does seem to have been a bizarre case of accidental noose-like object sighting.

One doesn't need to create a door pull in such a complicated knot as a noose.

Again, not buying it.

And that would not be the knot to tie on a door pull.

Looks like someone who works there knows how to tie a bowline. Which is a knot everyone should know and it the perfect knot for a door pull.

Some times a knot is just a knot.

On edit: I’ve now seen a better photo of the rope. Or a different one. Doesn’t matter.

Definitely a hangman’s noose.

The one I saw was a bad photo or a different rope. But this is definitely a Hangman’s noose.

I’m a southern man. There is only one reason that was tied. Racism. Flat out.

Maybe it was tied as some sort of sick joke a year ago, before Bubba got there.

But if it's a joke, it's not funny. And Bubba had no way of knowing whether that was put there a year ago or five minutes ago, so he did the right thing and reported it.

Why was there a fake noose in the garage in the first place (maybe not relevant but troubling to me)? Why was it left there? How are these garages assigned? Was it Bubba's first time in the garage?
I find it very strange this happened after he spoke out for racial equity and got NASCAR to ban the confederate flag which led to a defiant confederate flag flyover.
So many unanswered questions. I guess we should take Barr's DOJ and NASCAR's word for it. Case closed.

From what I can see, it looks more like a barrel knot--which is a reasonable choice for a door pull. It can be tied so as not to slip, and makes a loop you can easily get your hand into to pull it like a lanyard. Not necessarily anything nefarious.

always associated with hangings. Still makes one wonder though that this happened right after Nascar banned the confederate flag. The knot being suddenly something other than a noose sure let's them off the hook.
