Simple question for DU'ers:
You're sitting in a park having lunch and you have a sandwich that is cut into two parts. Someone comes and sits next to you and because of that person's behavior, you can tell that person is hungry.
Tell me you're a Democrat and you wouldn't hand the remaining one-half of that sandwich to the hungry person! But Mitt Romney wouldn't. After all, that hungry person isn't entitled to food in Mitt's world.
Faced with this situation myself, I believe I would hand over one-half of my sandwich. I think most DU'ers would. And I think most Democrats, in general, would. In fact, most compassionate people would probably go a step further and offer additional help if they could. So, I'm happy to be on the side of the people who would offer the half of the sandwich to the hungry person.
I think this is one of the very basic differences between most Republicans and most Democrats. The ability to put ourselves into someone else's situation. Yes, there are some caring Republicans. But I find compassion to be much more prevalent among Democrats.
Democrats can actually see themselves in the shoes of the hungry person. I just don't think many of the Republicans can.
