Trump campaign vows to defend famous statue of Jesus - wait for it - located in Brazil

You can't make this shit up.
https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/trump-campaign-vows-to-defend-famous-statue-of-jesus-thats-located-in-brazil/

President Donald Trump’s campaign is making a solemn vow to supporters that he will never allow the destruction of iconic statues located in foreign countries.

The Daily Beast reports that the Trump campaign over the weekend sent out a new ad featuring a photo of the Cristo Redentor in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro and informed supporters that “WE WILL PROTECT THIS.”

Redemptor’s feet. Unforgettable experience. We first flew over this enormous Christ, and landed at his feet.

The view is amazing. You had to drive up a winding road up the mountain then park the car and walk up winding stairs all the way to the top. The mountain comes to a slim point, that's where the statue was built.

Did they just pick that statue out of Google Images because it looks impressive, or did they know what it was and assumed (probably correctly) that the target demographic wouldn't recognize it?

what it tells me is that the campaign people believe that their supporters are dumb enough to not know that the statue is not in the U.S. Either that, or the campaign staff itself is that dumb. Or, then again, maybe both.

I haven't heard of any being pulled down or attacked. Talk about fixing a nonexistent problem. Of course that is the only kind of problem Trump can fix. Everything else he just fucks up.

about the Buddahs in Afghanistan?

But, seriously, it is nice that Trump values the protection of stylized stone, metal, etc. in other countries more than he values the people in the US dying from COVID 19.

They could have "vowed" to protect that 52-foot statue instead, since it's in this country!

The former Jesus statue at that same location was destroyed by God with lightning, so Trump and his team will need to overcome THAT threat and show it who's the boss!

In fairness, Christ the Redeemer is the first result when you search Google for "Christ statue"... you shouldn't expect much more out of the Trump campaign.

During the Sea and Anchor Detail brief, the navigator said; "when Jesus bears 220, come right to course 110."

So yeah, when someone says God is their navigator, I can say "yes he is".

Only disappointed that it was so foggy the day I had liberty the only thing you could see was the statues feet.
