Applebees calls cops on woman for breastfeeding her 20 month old son

Dawn Holland says the manager at Applebee's called the police after she refused to nurse her 20-month-old son Connor in the bathroom.

According to WXIA-TV, Holland was breastfeeding in a booth when the manager approached and suggested she finish feeding her baby in the restroom or leave. She told the news station that she tried explaining her right to breastfeed in public -- Georgia is one of 45 states that have laws which allow mothers to nurse anywhere. And, the officer who responded to the call didn't even file an incident report.

I know that WHO recommends breastfeeding until 2, but I'd imagine that many people are caught off guard when they actually see a mom doing it past 12 months or so.

If you were to poll Applebee's patrons, I suspect you'd find a pretty big representation of Republicans. Who think the only purpose of the human breast is to excite men.

and put the pumped milk in a sippy cup. It would decrease the chances of becoming a spectacle.

They're there to feed little humans. If that bothers you it's your problem. I'd suggest eating at home, or in a bathroom, or maybe putting a blanket or a weird cover over your head in public.

walk and talk doesn't mean breastfeeding should be considered a spectacle. Indeed, it only becomes one if people don't keep their eyes to themselves.

Eeeewww! CPS would have to charge her with child endangerment if she went in there to nurse!

Second, if the other patrons were minding their own business, nobody would have noticed what she was doing in the booth with her child. (Assuming he wasn't making loud slurpy noises or squirting breast milk at other people.) Live and let live, folks.

Third, to be fair, a well-placed scarf might have hidden "mealtime for baby" and avoided all the problems. Plan ahead, Moms.
