(57,073 posts)Article talked about moscow mitch saying he wants to limit next stim checks to those with income <$40k. No mention of possible amount or timing.

(46,116 posts)You might have made over $40k last year but lost your job now. There has to be a better way. If you want to limit the checks, send them to people who've filed for unemployment.

(2,408 posts)The idea of a stimulus to the economy is putting money into the hands of the people who will spend ALL of it. Locally, hopefully.
Mitch wants to throw a few bucks at the problem of a shrinking economy, and convince us he did everything he could. Those people do not agree with the "pump-priming" aspect of economics. Free-market dogmatists who think Keynes was a commie.

I don't need it as bad as others, but I could make good use of it.

(4,846 posts)They need to send the checks to the voters to get their votes and distract people from the COVID disastrous response.
The hold up will be on how insistent Democrats are with budget for mail in voting for the general.

(10,274 posts)I thought theyd said you had to have done either 18 or 19 but read last week you had to have done both. I think I made too much money in 2018 but not 2019.

(17,202 posts)The House passed their version some weeks ago. The tab: $3 Trillion. Moscow Mitch and Lord Lardass have both called it DOA.
Speaking of His Royal Fatness, he seems to be in favor of one, but with a lower price tag: $2 Trillion.
The consensus seems to be that there will be one, but dates and amounts and eligibility won't be discussed until the Senate gets back on the 20th. (BTW, MM is looking at a $1 Trillion package.)
So, right now, there's not much to do but wait.

(65,180 posts)August or September. Congress has to get back into session and come together to pass something. I think it should be $2,000 per person and go to at least as many people as last time. It is time to invest in people, not big corporations.
