"Romney receives the vote support of about a third of those whose household incomes are less than $24,000 a year and of more than four in 10 seniors with low incomes -- all groups who are among the least likely to pay income taxes."

Romney is conflating the 47% who don't pay income taxes with the theoretical 47% of the electorate who will vote Democratic no matter what. By doing so, the idiot is denigrating a substantial part of the 47% who vote for the GOP.

2. That is obvious by just looking at the electoral map.

Some of the poorest states are bright red, like Mississippi.

The problem is that they either don't understand that they are voting against their own economic interests or they just don't care.

It is also possible that other issues are more of a priority to them like racism, abortion, and guns.
