N.C. Republican Candidate Backs Away From Romney Comments

N.C. Republican Candidate Backs Away From Romney Comments

Mark Meadows, a Republican House candidate in North Carolina, distanced himself Tuesday from Mitt Romney's comment that 47 percent of Americans are voting for President Obama because they depend on government handouts.

“It might come as a surprise, but Mitt Romney didn’t call me before he made those comments and ask for my advice,” said Meadows, who is running for the seat being vacated by Democrat Heath Shuler.

“I’m concerned about all 750,000 people,” Meadows said at a forum hosted by a local ABC affiliate, according to the Citizen-Times. “I am here to represent the people of this district.”
