I got treated very rudely when I asked about people w/o mask everywhere.

(9,263 posts)posted. So far no incidents as its clear any disruptive customer will have the cops called on them. Some other stores are banning unruly customers from their premises as well.

(9,263 posts)trump supporters know better than to mix it up with this guy. I also saw a customer inside Walmart drop the mask and took a few minutes for a store employee to kindly ask her to put back on or kindly leave the store.
she put it back on

(14,856 posts)I understand they may have difficulty enforcing mask use all the time, but they should be making an honest effort, and they should never be rude to you for asking about it.

(14,642 posts)Not only Walmart, but FINALLY our county has a mask mandate.
It took us 3 months to go from 2 cases to 56. It didn't hit 50 until June 1. Now it only takes a week to add another 50. We're up to 237 here, with 4 deaths. But, hey, it's time to open everything up and the idiots here will challenge the mask rules at every turn.

We have to make everyone who doesn't take this seriously, including businesses, become pariahs.

(68,556 posts)enforcing masks...also, a BJ's employee told me the police came and cited non-mask wearers...the next day everyone had a mask on. There is a fine.

(11,495 posts)on Tuesday, and only saw one person without a mask. I think some wear the mask and then take it off once they get inside. The last shopping trip to Walmart I didn't see anyone without a mask, same for when I have gone to Safeway, everyone had a mask.
I live in a red part of the state, so I was actually surprised to see this.

(2,267 posts)I went into the store the other day (first time since Covid) and there were many not wearing masks. I had to get something that was not available on the order online and have them put it in your trunk.
I will not go back into the store.
Our area has a mask order and the store is supposed to and they were totally not enforcing anything.

(1,737 posts)However, there is a loophole. The mask policy is strongly enforced at the door but once inside, nobody cares or there isn't enough staff to enforce the rule on the inside. Leaving some to walk around with the mask hanging off their faces. Walmart also has social distancing floor stickers and aisle walking directions which many ignore.
I often wonder if these lawless adults have rules in their homes? Are their kids are allowed to be this rebellious? Some of us are setting a terrible precedent for the younger generation. Shame on us.

(12,265 posts)We have a locally owned store that I use. I get my produce from a farmers market. I will not line the pockets of the crazy Walton family.
Friends who do go there say they are not enforcing it here in our city.

(12,286 posts)I bought my mom an Apple TV so she could watch Hamilton on my Disney+ account for her birthday and when I went to install it I didn't have an HDMI cable. DAMMIT!
So I HAD to go to WalMart to fetch one.
I was pleasantly surprised that they had a gatekeeper making sure everyone wore a mask. One guy about three people ahead of me was going in without one and they handed him a mask.
And this is in red red Oklahoma where mask usage has been spotty.
I noticed everyone inside kept their masks on. 100% compliance.

(23,968 posts)Walmart has the best mask enforcement in my area. Target has no mask enforcement.
Regional chain Meijer had a big red Stop sign out front and two employees inside checking for masks.

(58,785 posts)Florida, after all. Quite red, traditionally crackerish area.
This Monday morning, when masks were first required, Walmart was normally busy and EVERYONE we saw exited their cars with masks and had them on as they arrived at the building. Where and when did they get them? Last time we were there, after "reopening," maybe half were masked.
Btw, I just read that the Winn-Dixie chain, "frustrated" with government refusal to mandate use of masks, is also implementing its own mask requirement beginning July 27. I dropped into a WD on the way home a couple weeks ago, and it was like a defiant refuge for virus deniers, alarming me into leaving quickly. One checker was working a busy line with her mask pulled down so her nose was free. Presumably that's ending.

(4,516 posts)I've been isolated for 98% of the time since February. But I do take long drives and I sometimes sit in parking lots to people watch. I also do curbside pick up at a library next door to one. I saw people going in and out 2 days ago, no mask, not even dangling around their neck and available. Most of their people who were delivering groceries curbside pulled their mask off the min they were out of the store, the others were never wearing it cover their nose in the first place.
Since Feb I have see ONE security guard kick ONE person out of a convenience store for not wearing one. ONE. They yelled and screamed about their rights for 5 minutes in the parking lot to no one in particular. They guard had to come back out and tell them to leave or they would be arrested for loitering.

(805 posts)Signs everywhere saying a mask is required, two greeters offering a free disposable mask to someone who is not wearing one. But not to confront, prevent from entering or challenge someone who takes theirs off or is not wearing one once inside.

I use either Kroger or Meijer. Since March it has been Kroger because they provided pickup at no cost. For other purchases I use Costco.
