Whether the source of Putin's power over him is billions in bribes or videos of Trump having sex with Lolitas or animals, the result is the same: Putin can do no wrong and will be denied no favor.
Crimea? What's the problem?
Determining who wins US elections? Putin denied it "very strongly".
Betraying our allies? Well, they were weak and didn't pay me---er, US---enough.
Bounties on our soldiers? Intelligence did not say what they said and, besides, they never told me.
Withdraw US troops from Germany? Germans are not paying me---er, US---enough and their leader is a woman.
Trump is a traitor and his primary defense is that he hasn't hidden any of his betrayals.
I do not favor the death penalty for Trump. He should die in prison---a gray, bald, pot-bellied, drooling maniac.

(21,204 posts)so totally incompetent, so blatantly defective...yet, the responsibility for that person was thrust upon you and your very career and future depends on the success of that person?
Yeah, i'd look like shit too.

(83,636 posts)That night when the family was trotted out behind him after it was announced that he'd won, she was wearing a slinky lounging pajama outfit - a one-shoulder white jumpsuit with a slit up-to-here. She was dressed as though she expected they'd lose and she could just go back to her cushy life as a rich civilian who didn't have to care - or even look as though she cared - about anybody or anything outside her own little fiefdom run by her husband. She was NOT dressed like a First Lady-elect.

If I were a handler of a very public person, weak is exactly how I would want to look. I doubt I could do it very well - but then I haven't had the training that handlers have.
I would be very shy of trying to determine whether a person is a handler based on his or her demeanor. QED's remark may be the most pertinent here.

Exactly what a Russian Agent would say...
Never thought I would see the day an American President would attempt to normalize KGB one of the most brutal organizations.
And yes Americans need to never forget that Putin is a KGB AGENT

Same type of answer the traitor gave during elections when he defended Putin's murders. Trump said we kill people too. I don't understand how a traitor acting on behalf of an enemy is allowed to have access to all intelligence and conduct our foreign policy on behalf of Russia

(1,080 posts)And a mole does things like sabotage the country they are in. Trump has seemingly done everything he can to sabotage this countrys future and the fates of Americans, and destroy this countrys standing in the world, and effectively leading to the demise of the west as the leader of the world.
As bad as the west has been, it has been the primary defender of democracy, human rights, and other things we may take for granted until we are living in a totalitarian dictatorship. Not defending the west during this time may mean the death of democracy and human rights, and vulnerable groups like certain races and lgbt people might have to pay a tragic price.
People need to connect the dots... Cui Bono

(53,061 posts)He could have handled the bounty question with a very standard formulated answer
"Of course it is a sensitive matter and we are still ascertaining all of the facts and once we know the full facts of the case we will take appropriate action.
Some of those actions will be public and others unseen. Some of the best actions are never seen, they might have already begun, I cannot discuss it."
That is the kind of formulated answer he rolls out on releasing his taxes, "audit", etc..
In this case he isn't trying to answer the question with his rambling nuclear proliferation nonsense, he is trying to get people to stop asking the question.
He is being blackmailed.

(83,636 posts)to Oleg Deripaska and other Russian oligarchs. Which, I suspect, Putin "took over" so he'd have total control.
In my opinion, anyway, he assured trump he was "taking care of him (his debt)" and everything would be alright. The non-spoken signal was "...as long as you play your cards right." And trump being the habitual insinuator he is, probably got the message.
He's on a leash. His ass belongs to Putin now. Putin holds the pink slip and the vehicle registration and the ownership documents, and nothing more needs to be said. And trump is obliged to check in with his new owner on a regular basis, and whenever a "need" arises.

(2,227 posts)He is an asset. Putin may have a video, but that is just insurance. His core wouldn't even care if there WAS a video.
The turd doesn't give a damn about this country. His only accomplishments (IF you could call them that) were achieved through lying and cheating. We don't believe his con. We aren't bowing down and treating him like a king, so he will teach us.
Chaos and division is what his orders from Putin were, and he has delivered. BIGLY. Removing sanctions? Done.
He is under the delusion that SOMEWHERE, they are going to allow him to be has rich and powerful as the russian oligarchs are. Sadly he is mistaken. No one will have any use for him past his expiration date of 11-3-20 (or when the vote is finalized).
WE need to hit him with RICO (money laundering), freeze his assets (as soon as it is allowed), and at 12:16 pm 1-20-21, arrest and shackle him, put him in a cell and throw away the key. I would not care if he was executed for treason. The death penalty is fraught with systemic inequitable results, but in his case, I would be willing to make an exception. I would volunteer to "flip the switch", gladly.
His entire klan needs to be arrested, too. They are accomplices in money laundering. Except Barron and Tiffany.
THEN we need to start arresting the republicans who have become Putin assets. GET EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. If they took 1$ in bribe/donations, and turned their head while the turd destroyed this country, arrest their ass.
But, my money is on Saudi Arabia. The turd won't even go to the inauguration. That is why we need to make SURE his plane tires are flat. Just In Case.

(53,061 posts)There are close to $ 800 billion in oil exploration contracts that would become available for bidding the day that sanctions are removed.
The going fee for "fixing" a problem like this is 3%.
If you set the initial round at a very low $ 400 billion Trump is looking at clearing $ 10- 15 Billion. I bet that Trump/Putin have recorded agreements and that is what he is holding against him.
Russians always use both a stick AND a carrot.
Just my 2 cents

(11,362 posts)Probably the only way Trump can be proven to be a Russian asset is if Putin releases the evidence. Once Trump is out of office, he might still be of use to Putin because he is likely to start his own media show to be even more false than Fox News. Putin would support that because he hates the US and the more divided we are, the better for him. Would Putin bankroll such an operation? Given Trumps history, US banks might not touch him, and even Deutsche Bank might be wary. Strange times ahead even if Biden wins the election. And then of course in 2024, well have Princess Ivanka and dumber-than-dirt Donnie Jr. vying to be president. Trump himself will be in full-blown dementia by then.

Hide in plain sight resounds because that is what we are experiencing with tRUMP. Tearing up transcripts of discussions with Putin, banning US cleared and approved translators from one on one meetings with Putin only to rely on the Russian translator should be all the evidence one needs to know tRUMP is a Russian asset and more. Putin is smart, calculated and now "president of Russia" for "life" meaning he's everything tRUMP wants to be. Rich, powerful and a DICKtator....One difference, Putin is corrupt and smart while tRUMP is just corrupt.

(2,305 posts)And its so obvious, that the refusal of the Democrats to impeach him OVER THIS is infuriating. Impeachment should have started the day he stood there in Helsinki and took Putin's side. But noooooo, couldn't have that. Unreal. For the record - this is exactly why so many independents and never-trump republicans don't believe most the Russia stuff - they say if the Democrats believed it to be real, they would have impeached him over it. Hard to argue with them, right? Him being blackmailed by Putin is a bit more serious than the Ukraine/Biden thing that was easily foiled just by making it public(once the public found out what Trump was trying to get Ukraine to do, the fake "investigation announcement" scheme was pointless). Hopefully people go vote for Biden this time and don't stay home like they did in 2016 because they didn't like Hillary.

(1,603 posts)have the intelligence, training or discipline to be an agent. Putin and the old KGB spent years seeking out the soft underbelly of the US and found it in our politics. The traitor was selected and bought by Putin to institute the horror show of the past 3+ years. Putin specialized in recruiting assets disguised as businessmen, as he did early in his European assignment. tRump is a traitor, and should be treated as such. Wonder if he already has Russian citizenship?

(12,811 posts)A con man chooses his words carefully. He might have been told about the bounties verbally. He might have been shown a chart identifying the issue and presenting possible responses -- but in neither case was the intelligence report on his desk.
I noticed that during the interview he made this statement verbatim repeatedly: "It was never on my desk."
He also pulled his favorite dodge: "There are those who say just the opposite." Like Putin?

On her twitter feed she goes into great detail about his Russian mob ties, his previous New York Genovese and Gambino mob ties, and the multigenerational sleaze he is involved in. All his crooks know each other, for two, three and four generations. For example, KellyAnne Conway's grandfather was Jimmy "The Brute" diNatale.

An interview with LincolnsBible:
https://gregolear.substack.com/p/give-me-secrecy-and-give-me-death
Excerpt:
donald is a filthy criminal, just like his father. And it isnt just tax laws he breaks. As early as the 1980s, donald faced indictments for laundering blood money from organized crime syndicates through his development projects and casinos (at the very least). This is a well-reported and exhaustively sourced statement of fact. And there were RICO and organized crime investigations around his business partnerson his projectsin the late 70s. As Greg stated in a prior article, there is no universe in which donald was not used as a CI in these investigations. To think otherwise, you would have to believe the FBI Organized Crime/Criminal Investigative Division to be a bungling gaggle of nincompoops.
GO: Voiceover: The FBI Organized Crime/Criminal Investigative Division is not a bungling gaggle of nincompoops.
LB: So, to get out of the indictment noose, donald ratted on the mobsters who owned him. The evidence of this is that he was never indicted (or, an indictment against him was never unsealed). Considering the largess of the known organized crime bosses that donald worked with/forRoy Cohn, Tony Salerno, John Cody and Paul Castellano, Nicky Scarfo, Vyacheslav Ivankov, Mogilevichits safe to assume that donald was a top echelon informant.
