The only difference now is the fact that it is harder for poor people to get, and keep photo id for a hundred reasons.
It's all about making it harder for poor people and minorities to vote.

but the misdirection GOP voters fall for is amazing.
They dont care if it is a lie, what they care about is making certain NOT ONE BROWN person gets to vote, gets to receive the same benefits TENS of millions of white people get every day, etc.

Im not sure voting was particularly fair in those days.
