(52,387 posts)the debate should be over how to rethink policing so fewer people get shot. they're supposed to bring safety to the equation, not lethal force. yeah, we get it, sometimes they are going to have to use force and sometimes people are going to get shot or killed. but we should be doing everything we can to keep that to a minimum, and ensure that it happens only after all other reasonable alternatives have been exhausted. they're supposed to be the trained professionals at this.
if we even have a debate over what the right catchphrase to use is, or whether athletes should be allowed to kneel, or if during the national anthem is the right time to call attention to such things, and any of that, white supremacists win simply by shifting the focus of the debate to such trivial nonsense instead of finding a substantive solution.
so now, my response is to say don't change the subject. how are we going to make the police less lethal? how are we going to make police use of guns really a last resort after a series of alternatives instead of something they bring into every situation and are mentally and physically prepared to use in a split second? how are we going to make it so people aren't scared for their lives whenever they get pulled over for a routine, simple, minor traffic violation?

(36,964 posts)Whatever negative the right thinks of 'Black Lives Matter' is also applicable to 'Blue Lives Matter'.
The only difference is the color.

Yes. All lives matter. But not all lives are in danger, are they? When they are, get back to me.

(9,090 posts)was probably said millions of times on the radio all over the country to get where it is today
and it is really absurd that the LA lakers broadcast sports on 2 limbaugh stations.... and are just one pro team ouit of many others as well as 87+ universities that support 100s of those raur llocal rw radio station.dio stations that follow limbaugh in saying "white lives matter", BLM is a "marxist communist terrorist organization", and kneeling athletes are unamerican. now that they're all kneeling they might have to lighten it up on the latter, but it still starts at your local rw radio station, often supported by your local sports teams

(5,727 posts)Specifically "What about testicular cancer???"
No bonus points for guessing it was an MRA/incel pitching a fit about Breast Cancer Awareness, using the "Why isn't there a White History Month" template.

(14,861 posts)Just ask them how much money they've given to or raised for the Prostate Cancer Foundation or the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation, or any similar groups. Ask them how much time they've spent promoting awareness of these conditions. If the answer is "none" they can fuck right off with their whining.

(13,874 posts)I said that All Lives couldn't matter if Black Lives didn't matter, since "black lives" was a subset of "all lives."
He just grinned and said that liberals had no right to use logic since they normally rejected it.

(18,486 posts)"Black Lives Should Matter" says something different than "Black Lives Matter."
But there's nothing wrong with people using whatever slogan they wish - there's no rule preventing anyone from saying "Black Lives Should Matter" if that's what they want to say.
