Maryland governor overturns order that would keep Barron Trump's school closed as president pushes reopening

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/08/03/barron-trump-school-can-open-following-maryland-govs-order/5574383002/

WASHINGTON — As President Donald Trump continues to push for schools to open in the fall amid the coronavirus, a battle over school reopenings in Maryland affects when his youngest son can attend school in person.

Barron Trump's private school, where he is scheduled to begin high school Sept. 8, is located in the Maryland county where nonpublic schools were mandated to remain closed to in-person instruction through at least Oct. 1 in an order issued Friday.

But on Monday, Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, blocked that order, allowing private schools to decide for themselves whether they will reopen, as long as they adhere to state and Centers for Disease Control Prevention guidelines about safe reopening.

"This is a decision for schools and parents, not politicians," Hogan said in a statement on Friday expressing disagreement with the local order.

I don't see that this decision is in Trump's PERSONAL interest because he can't hide protecting his own behind a statewide closure order, and when did he ever see anything any other way?

'Maryland Gov. Hogan bans counties from ordering blanket closures of schools.' >>>

'Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Monday stripped local governments’ authority to issue blanket closures of schools, following his disagreement with a Montgomery County decision to shutter private as well as public schools.

A revised emergency order issued by the Republican governor on Monday continues to allow counties to order closures or modifications at businesses and organizations. However it now exempts schools from that authority, overturning Montgomery County’s school closure order.

Hogan said in a statement that schools themselves should have the primary authority to determine whether and how to open buildings for classes.'

More importantly, how are parents going to 'decide', LARRY?

By what process are they voting on this matter? Will there be a mailing out of ballots?

Is the vote per family, or per parent?

Does a straight majority 'win'?

I don’t like that Hogan intervened in this and called it political. If counties can make their own declarations in terms of businesses and organizations, they should be able to do the same with all schooling. He is the one who just made it political and MoCo is one of the higher COVID counties in Maryland right now.

Honestly, he could have been a lot worse but I can’t wait to get rid of Hogan.

"There is no such thing as a "moderate" Retrumplican"

"There is no such thing as a "compassionate" Retrumplican"

"There is no such thing as a "moral and ethical" Retrumplican"

"All Retrumplicans MUST be voted out of office EVERYWHERE"!

I'm tired of giving Retrumplicans like Hogan, Dewine, Romney, Kasich et al frickin pass because they're only 85% Nazi.

We used to have a chant in my F18 Squadron when another squadron did something stupid. It is apt for all of these so-called "sensible" Retrumplicans.

Let's them all get together and chant; "we're not worst", "we're not worst", "we're not worst".
