Signed, Sealed, Undelivered: Thousands Of Mail-In Ballots Rejected For Tardiness

If at all possible DROP YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT OFF, YOURSELF, IN PERSON. Every state but TX and TN has provisions for submitting a mail in ballot in person. I recently sent a bill to the next state, in a regular envelope, with first class postage, and it took 8 days to get there. Before 2020, it would take two days. Imagine what might happen if the Post Office is deliberately under staffed by current leadership, and ballots get delayed beyond the deadline - which was set in a year where the PO was working as normal.

An NPR analysis has found that in the primary elections held so far this year, at least 65,000 absentee or mail-in ballots have been rejected because they arrived past the deadline, often through no fault of the voter.

While the numbers are relatively small — around 1% in most states — they could prove crucial in a close election, especially one in which many more voters are expected to cast absentee and mail-in ballots to avoid going to the polls during a pandemic.

Something has got to be done about this post master general’s order to slow and sometimes to pause mail delivery.

Ballots were rec'd the day after the election. Many people sent them in anyway.

Truth is, I was surprised to find out during the 2000 election just how many in person ballots were considered "spoiled" in the average election. In Florida, 100k to 200K ballots are regularly invalidated for one technical reason or another.

In WA they have to be postmarked on the due date, or in the ballot drop boxes by 8pm. No postage required.

If they're not, it's on you.
