A good portion of voters are worthless idiots.
A racist, convicted criminal who killed people, and they wanted to re-elect him.
I am filled with contempt for these people. I don't want to understand them or reach out to them, I want to make them irrelevant.

(53,061 posts)Maricopa County is evenly split. Trump won the county by 3%
In 2018 Sinema beat McSally by 4%.
Trump will lose Maricopa County this time and in AZ as Maricopa goes, so goes the State of AZ.
With Trump losing some other states that he won in 2016 he cannot afford to lose any states that he won.
There are no realistic paths to an Electoral College victory for Trump if he loses in AZ. Maricopa County is going to prevent Trump from being re elected when it goes for Biden by 7-8%.

(11,023 posts)He's culpable in everything Arpaio did, was also charged with contempt, but the charges were dropped when they convicted Arpaio. I'm not too worried about it, yet. We'll see how it plays out, Penzone is still the favorite, I think.

(35,438 posts)Their days of getting privileges simply based on their race, gender, and country of origin is no longer a guarantee of success. They have to compete for success just like everybody else has to.
They falsely believe that pols like Trump and Arpaio can somehow restore those privileges, but it's a losing battle in the long run. They will become extinct.

You would think that the usual pattern of Democrats inheriting disasters, fixing them up, Repukes exploiting divisiveness and lies take over for a cash-grab, getting thrown out.....REPEAT.....
Would eventually sink in. But some people just can't learn.....

(15,382 posts)I've looked at a couple sites, and one of them says 90 of 99 Vote Centers Reporting. I would guess a 500 vote deficiency could still be made up if not all the votes are in.
And even if those are the numbers, what are the rules in Arizona for re-counts/run-offs? This might not be over.

Another is to point out he didn't get 73.3% of the vote.
Another example of the need for runoffs.

(8,203 posts)In the November 2016 general election, Penzone defeated Arpaio by 665,478 votes (55.6%) to Arpaio's 531,674 votes (44.4%)...not sure how 2020 will pan out with Penzone up against the big ass arpaio clone..
I second your sentiment..thank you btw..for the election results link..I have been looking at the number of votes..R vs D in many of the races..our ballots were mailed, recv'd and counted 7/15/2020 - I would love to see Joan Greene take out Biggs..Gosar needs to go as well..but like you say..racists abound..lazy, impotent AZ voters..

She's since "paused" her campaign but now says she intends to move forward full speed towards the general election.
Despite the Board of Education seat being a non-partisan race, the county's Republican party had endorsed her in the initial round of voting. She finished just 78 votes short of the first place candidate.
Donald Trump has officially normalized the fringe.

Calvert Board Of Education Candidate Announces She Is Pausing Campaign
Calvert County 07/30/2020 By Zach Hill
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. On July 30, the GOP-endorsed candidate for Calvert County Board of Education in District Two, Dawn Keen, told TheBayNet.com that she is pausing her campaign.
At this time I have taken a pause due to the unprecedented effects of COVID, and the impact on my family life, Keen said.
This announcement follows what could be considered an arguably tumultuous few weeks for her campaign, seeing outspoken criticism over comments she had made across social media.
Keen received the second-highest number of votes out of six candidates back in the June primary election, getting roughly 22.2% of the vote. The only person to outperform her was Antoine White who got 22.7% of the total vote in the district. The pair were separated by just 78 votes. This district was also the only contested Board of Education seat in the Calvert primary, with the other open-seats having two or fewer candidates running.
While White and Keen would be facing off in the November general election, it is still unclear at this time if Keen will be taking her name off of the ballot. When asked, she adamantly stated that this is just a pause for her campaign.
The story at link has screen shots of some of Keen's social media comments. They aren't pretty.
