Question regarding states like NV changing to mail-in voting for 2020 ...

I've read that they're sending ballots to every registered voter, but they are also maintaining polling places.

Am I correct that these will not be 'normal' polling places, where they have all the voter rolls, and you can just go in and vote like normal, even though you've already received a ballot by mail?

Or will they be a more limited function 'drop off place' and place where you can do a provisional ballot if you sign paperwork specifically saying your mail-in ballot never arrived and/or you never sent it in?

How does the 'security' on 'not voting twice' work, exactly? I mean I realize you're going to get caught even if they just let you vote at a polling place normally when you've already sent in a ballot, to be clear.

the County Clerk supplies a Registered Voter List to each polling Station. You have to show your ID and the Intake Person checks his or hers Voter list and if your on it,you sign off next to your name. Realize,if you vote by mail, your Signature is checked with the Voter Rolls and if you had already voted, you are subject to one hell of a fine or jail time.

There were Mail in Ballots that were rejected during our Primay, and the main reasons were,Signature Line was not close to Signature on file from your previous visit to the polls or your Voter Registration forms. That and people just did not read the instructions.

at the polling place ... if your mail-in ballot was already received (like if it was rec'd 3 weeks before election day for example)?

I'm in an argument with a wingnut on FB and I want to understand the mechanics as well as possible

TIA!

And it would have a record that your mail-in vote has been received?

I would love to be able to state that fact to this idiot if it's indeed reliably true

would have no way of knowing in advance if there would be such a system at the place they're showing up at, right?

That's a pretty good argument for my purposes ... thanks WR
