Ahead of Biden's VP announcement, a group of prominent Democratic women are urging news organizations to avoid "stereotypes and tropes" and "actively work to be anti-racist and anti-sexist in your coverage" (via @axios)

The letter was sent to top editors/execs at the NYT, WaPo, LAT, WSJ, CNN, Fox News, ABC, CBS, NBC, and more

It's a shame that this needs to be said, but I understand it and support it completely.

Of course, but I appreciate their effort to get in front of it and try to make a difference. nt PunkinPi Aug 2020 #3
I agree. Call it out when we see it. I'm really sick of it. The Velveteen Ocelot Aug 2020 #6

her clothes, her hair, whether she doesn't smile enough or smiles too much, how she managed to have a career and children, her favorite recipes for busy working mothers, whether she shows her emotions or doesn't show them enough, blah blah blah. Same old same old.

The blather about Elizabeth Warren's electability elicited pushback to the point that the pushback itself began to be discussed in the MSM, prompting self-examination, and then the talking point faded away.

Dodd didn't get far with accusing Harris of "ambition"; it was being laughed about almost as soon as it was in the news.

I commit to calling it out when I see it.

There's twitter, but more importantly there are contact forms and email addresses. CNN is easy to contact via web form.

Let's shoot it down when we see it!

And it wasn't just Warren that got it in the primary, trust me, I was a Harris supporter and she got it with gender and race.

Our city is experiencing a recall petition all of those public officials except one are female. In the group going after them there are a large number of women haters. They say this is about "taking back their town and backing the blue" in fact, this is being done to remove women and people who serve who are left of center and don't agree with their view of our city.

It is ugly, it is always going to be out there. They are teaching their sons to hate women too. It will never end.
